    Nurses knowledge and practice Regarding Application Of Hemodialysis Protocol In Khartoum state 2019-2020

    Abstract Background: . Hemodialysis protocol its important because most him health provider, And need the knowledge, and nurse stay long time with the patient and first contact with them this study cross section study was carried out during the period2020. The aim of study to assess knowledge and practices regarding standard protocol among hemodialysis nurses in hemodialysis centers in Khartoum state in 2020 Methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional based study. Done in 36 nurses from differ areas data was collected through questionnaire and checklist using statistical package for social sciences presented as table and figures . result: over all nurses knowledge and practice was v .good knowledge by percentage 77% and practice level a bought 72% Conclusion: the study concluded that Nurses have v. good knowledge and practical but need more program regard protocol to improve nursing competence care. الخلاصه مقدمه: معرفه البروتوكول للممرضين العاملين بمراكز غسيل الكلي لأنهم اكتر الوقت يجلسوا مع المريض واطول فتره والممرض هو اللصيق الأول مع المريض في مراكز غسيل الكلي هده الدراسة وصفيه مقطعيه اتعملت ف عام 2020 الهدف: أن الهدف من هذه الدراسة تقييم الممرضات في مستشفيات الخرطوم في عام 2020. الطريقة: دراسة وصفية مقطعية تعمل علي تقييم المعرفه و الممارسه المتعلقة باستخدام البروتوكول لغسيل الكلي الدموي إجمالي العدد 36 ممرض وممرضه من وحدات غسيل الكلي من مستشفيات الخرطوم . الاستنتاج: أغلبية الممرضات والممرضين العاملين في مستشفىيات الخرطوم (77 % يعرفن القواعد الاساسية لغسيل الكلي ، 72%) من الممرضين والممرضات يعرفن كيفيه التطبيق هدا يعني أن هناك علاقة كبيره بين مستوي المعرفة والتطبيق النتائج : أن هنالك مستوى المعرفة جيده جدا البروتوكول يعلمون تطبيق البروتوكول محتاجين المزيد من المعرفة ليكون الأداء افضل

    Evaluation of Pediatric Nurses’ Knowledge and Attitude Regarding Nursing Ethics and Professionalism in Khartoum Locality Pediatric governmental Hospitals

    Background: Professionalism is demonstrated through a foundation of clinical competence, communication skills, and ethical understanding, upon which is built the aspiration to and wise application of the principles of professionalism: excellence, humanism, accountability, and altruism. Nursing ethics is an important part of nursing profession to keep nurses accountable of patient care in frame of laws. Objective:_The aim of this study was to assess nurse's knowledge and attitude regarding nursing professionalism and nursing ethics. Methods: This descriptive, cross sectional study was conducted in Khartoum locality pediatric hospitals that selected randomly according to govem map, study sample composed of 193 staff nurse who working in emergency department, pediatric units, and wards. Data were collected using self administered questionnaire and analyzed by SPSS version 21. Results: The study results revealed that 98.5% of studied nurses had good knowledge regarding nursing professionalism and 56.2% had positive attitude regarding nursing professionalism, also there was insignificant statistically relation between nurses knowledge and age 29.2%, 24.0%, 18.8%, 28.1% and Qualification 50.3%, 45.1%, 4.7% respectively and between working experience 32.6%, 45.8%,21.6% and year of experience 18.8%, 81.2% respectively. Conclusion: The study revealed that nurses working in pediatric hospitals had good knowledge and positive attitude regarding professionalism. Key wards: nurses, professionalism, knowledge, attitude.

    Student's Perception of Electronic versus Traditional Exams at Al Neelain University 2018

    Abstract Background: due to the wide increase of the scope of education and the wide use of technology, electronic examination has become a very popular method of assessment in educational institutions. During the last few years, this new technology has been used increasingly and it led to the improvement of the quality of education. The aim of the study was to investigate students' perceptions regarding electronic versus traditional exam. Research methodology: this study is a comparative descriptive cross-sectional university based study conducted at Al-Neelain University during the period from September to December 2018. The sample of the study included 378 students selected from 6 faculties of the university, who were selected by the cluster sampling technique. The data was collected using a closed-ended standardized self-administered questionnaire designed by the researcher and analyzed by the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 16. The data were then presented in through the use of tables and figures. Results: the study results found that electronic examination is more stressful than traditional examination (59%). It also showed that more than a half of the participant students (60%) considered paper-and-pen examination to be more difficult than electronic examination. Moreover, the study found that the greater majority (94%) of the respondent students saw that electronic examinations were largely affected by Internet network and electricity, but still more than two thirds (70%) of the participants prefer electronic examination over traditional examinations. Conclusion: The preferable method of examination was electronic examination. Recommendations: the university administration is advised to prepare the examination environment before starting the examination. Training sessions to decrease stress and improve exam process should be provided for both students and teachers. Mixed-method examinations (electronic and traditional) should be prepared for the subjects whose exams cannot be completely computerized. ملخص البحث خلفية البحث: نظرا للإستخدام الواسع للتكنولوجيا والتوسع الرأسي والافقي للتعليم أصبحت الامتحانات الإلكترونية وسيلة محببة وجيدة للتعليم والتقييم في السنوات الأخيرة وذلك لتحسين فعالية العملية التعليمية. أهداف الدراسة: هدفت هذة الدراسة الى دراسة وتقييم مستوى فهم وادراك الطلاب للامتحانات الإكترونية والورقية . منهجية البحث: أجريت هذة الدراسة الوصفية لمقارنة الامتحانات الالكترونية والورقية في جامعة النيلين في الفترة من سبتمبر الى ديسمبر 2018م، وشملت عينة الدراسة 6 كليات ممثلة 378 طالب وطالبة تم حسابها عن طريق الاختيار العنقودي. وتم جمع البيانات بواسطة استبانة معيارية ذاتية من تصميم الباحثة، وحللت البيانات باستخدام برنامج الحزمة الإحصائية للعلوم الاجتماعية (SPSS), الاصدار (16)، وتم عرضها في جداول واشكال . نتائج الدراسة: توصلت الدراسة إلى أن (59%) من مجتمع الدراسة وجدوا ان الإمتحانات الالكترونية أكثر توترا, و(60%) من مجتمع الدراسة وجدوا ان الامتحانات الورقية اكثر صعوبة من الامتحانات الالكترونية, (94%) وجدوا ان الامتحانات الالكترونية تتأثر بسوء الشبكة والكهرباء, الاغلبية من مجتمع الدراسة يفضل الامتحان الالكتروني(70%). الخلاصة: من نتائج الدراسة تبين للباحث ان الامتحانات الالكترونية اكثر توترا وتتأثر بسوء الشبكة والكهرباء,والامتحانات الورقية اكتر صعوبة وتعقيد, والاغلبية من مجتمع الدراسة يفضل الامتحانات الالكترونية التوصية: يوصي الباحث بتجهيز بيئة الامتحانات لتقليل التوتر , تدريب الطلاب والاساتذة لكيفية التعامل مع الحاسوب والامتحانات الالكترونية

    Patients Compliance Regarding Glaucoma Medical Management in Makah Eye Complex, Khartoum State- Sudan 2014

    Background: Glaucoma is a group of ocular conditions characterized by optic nerve damage. it's a chronic, progressive. and most often asymptomatic disease, it is the second leading cause of blindness worldwide. Objective: To study patients Compliance regarding glaucoma medical management in Makah Eye Complex. Methods: Patient’s compliance assessed by structured interviewing close ended questionnaire (n =300). Study design: descriptive cross sectional hospital based study. Sample size: Sample size is based on the number of patients attending to glaucoma clinic in Makah Eye Complex during data collection period. who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. (Convince sampling and 300 patients visit the center during the sampling period). The data was coded by using SPSS program (Statistical Package for Social Sciences), version 16.0. Results: Majority of patients received explanation. 85% about glaucoma, 97.6% about need for regular follows up and 94% about necessity of continuous use of treatment. 88% of the patients take prescribed medications. while only 57% know their side effects. All the patients were came to follow up, 70% of them follows on time. but 30% follows when possible. About the complication. 72% knew that glaucoma can lead to blindness in case of irregular treatment and periodic follow-up. 73% knew that increase in IOP cause deterioration in vision and 81% knew that treatment will not improve vision but its aim to prevent deterioration in vision. Few patients not adhere to compliance. because of medications cost. side effects and unavailability. Conclusion: Majority of patients have good compliance regarding use of medications and adherence to periodic follow up. There are some factors that have been associated with poor compliance in few patients, such as socioeconomic factors, side effects and unavailability of medications.

    Assessment of Parent’s Knowledge and Attitude Medication with Over the Counter Medicines at EL-Hag Yusuf Khartoum State 2021

    Abstract ' Background: Most drugs in children are used outside the health settings with or without prescription. The family initial response to many illnesses in their children has been found to be self - medication. Objective: this study aimed to assess parents’ Knowledge and Attitude regarding Self-medication with Over-The-Counter medicines. Methodology: The study is a descriptive cross-sectional community-based. A study conducted at Khartoum state East Nile locality (160) of parents were enrolled in the study. The data were collected by using a questionnaire, and then they were processed by using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 25. Presented in simple frequency tables, figures and cross tabulation. The statistical significance was set at p 5 0.05. Results: The most common reason for using self-medication was saving the time about (56.9%.) and the most common source of information about medication (61.9%) was Pharmacist. (64.4%) of participants double the dose if medication not effective. Fever and cough being the dominant health problems for used Over-the- counter medicine (36.2% )and (23.1%) respectively. Cough syrup, Antibiotics and paracetamol were the main categories of medications that are mostly used by parents (26.2%) ,(16.2%) and (16.2%) respectively. there is a significant association p 5 0.05. between common health problems for which medicine was used Over the Counter and health insurance of the children. Conclusion: The current study revealed that parental self-medication is a common practice. The researcher suggested raise of awareness of parents about harmful impact of self- medication on health consequences of their children. Easy accessibility of healthcare services and reducing waiting time by scheduling the time of attendance when making an appointment. IV

    Assessment of triage system and availability of resuscitation equipments in emergency departments in pediatric hospitals in Khartoum state 2011

    Abstract Background: - it is important to attend patients who arrived at emergency department for triaging. Triage is the most important aspect in the prevention of death and disability in the patients. The staffin emergency department has got a big role in immediate intervention for resuscitation. Methods:- The study included four pediatric emergency departments, Gafaribnout‘ pediatric hospital, Ahmmed Gasiin pediatric hospital, Omdurman pediatric hospital and Albuluk pediatric hospital, this study aimed to assess triage system and availability of resuscitation equipments in pediatric emergency departments in Khartoum state during 201 l. the data required to meet the specified objectives were gained using structured questionnaire by interviewing subjccts(32) and (4) observational check list . Results: - All nurses did not receive training in triaging patients and less than quarter (12.5%) received training in pediatric emergency and (15.6%) received advanced life support. > (100%) oftriage nurses did not assess patients properly and no action was taken even checking ofvital signs §> For practical reasons patients were categorized as hot or cold cases; based on the urgency and severity of their condition > Regarding equipments the crash cart and specific resuscitation room were not available (lOO%). > Regarding equipments the crash cart and specific resuscitation room were not available ( 100‘?/0).

    Parents Awareness of Children with Congenital Glaucoma at Makkah Eye Complex Pediatrics Ophthalmology Outpatient- Khartoum-2019

    Abstract Background: Congenital Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness, poor awareness and late presentation are often major impediments to adequate management and prevention of vision loss. Objectives: To study the awareness of 120 of the parents of children with congenital glaucoma. Methodology: This a descriptive cross-sectional study conduct in Pediatrics Clinic at Makkah Eye Complex, used convenience sampling method at the time of data collection. The data collected by using self-administer questionnaire Statistical Package for Social Sciences software, version 25 was used to analyise data. Results: By taking p < 0.05 as statistically significant Parents’ awareness was significantly associated with their level of education (p= 0.014) and their residence (p= 0.001). Those with university education have good level of awareness. Those who reside in urban area have good awareness than rural. (34.2%) of the parents did not have any idea about the symptoms of congenital glaucoma. Conclusion: The Most of the participant (60%) have poor knowledge about congenital glaucoma. Most of the parent did not know that vision loss due to Congenital glaucoma is irreversible, approximately 54 (45%) of parents have family history of congenital glaucoma. The family and friends was the most common information source. Recommendations: The author recommended the Ministry of Health to develop a policy to place ophthalmic nurses at various antenatal and postnatal clinics for early identification and management of congenital glaucoma cases , To lower the rate of undiagnosed congenital glaucoma should be enhance knowledge and awareness of glaucoma among the public, and provide screening examinations for congenital glaucoma by qualified professional’s staffs, The mass media should be continued to provide rich source of information on important health issues ,enhance , fund and support similar studies in different regions of the world to give a better overall view of the congenital glaucoma. مستخلص البحث المقدمة : يعتبر الزرق (الجلاكوما الخلقية) من الاسباب الرئيسية للإصابة بالعمي الدائم وضعف مستوي الوعي ذائدا تأخيرالكشف عن المرض يعتبر عائقا كبيرا امام الاحتراز و الحماية من فقدان البصر. أهداف الرسالة: دراسة نسبة وعي الاباء والامهات حول مرض الجلاكوما الخلقية حول اباء وامهات الاطفال المصابين بداء الجلاكوما الخلقية . المنهجية: اجريت هذه الدراسة الوصفية بمجمع مكة لطب العيون و تم جمع البيانات باستخدام استبيان صمم من اجل الدراسة . تم تحليل البيانات باستخدام برنامج الحزمة الاحصائية للعلوم الاجتماعية شملت عينة الدراسة علي 120 والد و والدة وهي التي تمثل العينة الملائمة اثناء الدراسة. علي انها ذات دلالة احصائية، كان هناك فرق بين متوسط درجة المعرفة p < 0.05 من خلال اخذ النتائج: والمستوي التعليمي (0.0014)p= ومتوسط درجة المعرفة وموقع السكن (0.001)p= حيث اظهرت النتائج ان الوالدين الذين لديهم تأهيل جامعي ويقطنون المدن لديهم نسبة وعي جيدة.73.3)%) معظمهم من الامهات كما ان (34.2%) ليس لديهم ادني معرفة بأعراض المرض. الخلاصة: خلصت الدراسة الي ان معظم عينة الدراسة (60%) لديهم معرفة ضعيفة عن مرض الجلاكوما الخلقية و اكثر من نصف العينة لا يعون ان النظر المفقود بسبب الزرق لا يمكن ان يرجع حيث وجد (45% )لديهم تاريخ اسري بالمرض ومصدر هذه المعلومات هي العائلة و الاصدقاء. التوصيات: اوصت الدراسة لوزارة الصحة بوضع سياسة وجود ممرض عيون في عيادات متابعة الحامل للتعرف المبكر لمرض الجلاكوما الخلقية. لتقليل نسبة عدم اكتشاف المرض المبكر كما يساعد في رفع نسبة الوعي في المجتمع. توصي الدراسة الي الحاجة الماسة للتثقيف المبكر عبر الراديو والتلفاز وزيادة البحوث لتحسين الوعي العام حول المرض.

    nurses competency regarding pain assessment of cancer

    Abstract Background: Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual and potential tissue damagel“. It is the most common reason for seeking health care. Cancer pain can be complex and difficult to treat. Up to 50% of patients may have pain at diagnosis, and greater than 75% may experience pain with advanced Ca1’1C€l'(2). The aim of this study is to investigate the nurses’ competency regarding pain assessment and management of cancer patients. Research methods: Descriptive, cross sectional hospital based study. The study was carried out in Radiation and Isotopes Center Khartoum and AL Amal Tower. The sample of this study consists of 48 nurses and the data was collected by responding to a questionnaire and an observational checklist. and the collected data was analyzed with SPSS 16 program. Results: Despite the disparity and the different years of experience among the nurses, the result of the study show that only 35% of them have received courses regarding pain assessment and management of cancer patients. According to this proportion (35%), the knowledge of the majority of these nurses (56.3%) regarding pain assessment and management in cancer patients is considered weak, this poor knowledge was represented for example: (75%) were unknown the scales used to assess pain. Also the practice was poor. (94%) of these nurses do not assess the pain as one of the vital signs. although, the attitude of these nurses to address the pain was positive. This positive attitude was responded to by (45%) who see the lack of pain expression does not mean lack of pain and (21%) were strongly agree, also (46%) agree to contact the physician if the patient has continuous pain afier receiving pain relieving medication and (46%) strongly agree. Conclusion: This study reveals that the knowledge and practice of these nurses regarding the pain assessment and management of cancer patients is poor. but the attitude is positive. The study reflects that there is no statistical association between the nurses knowledge and years of experiences because p. value was 0.381 and it is more than 0.05.
