Abstract

ظل اسْتِخْدَامُ الخط العربي في وسط أفريقيا قبل وصول الأوروبيين وخلال فترة الاستعمار ظاهرة غير معروفة، ولكن رغم ذلك، تقول الكثير من مصادر ذاك العصر وخاصة الأوروبية منها والم ا رجع المحفوظة في إرشيف الكثير من المتاحف الأوروبية ومنها المتحف الملكى فى بلجيكا): استخدمت اللغة العربية والعربية-السواحيلية فى تلك المنطقة بعد ) Tervurin تيرفورين وصول التجار السودانيين من الشرق والغرب والتجار السواحيليين من الشرق وذلك منذ الحقب الأخيرة من القرن التاسع عشر، واستخدمت هذه اللغة في المكاتبات وأيضاً في التعليم الديني ولكن منذ نهاية القرن التاسع عشر توجست السلطات الاستعمارية وخاصة المبشرين الذين يعملون في مجال التعليم، وهذا التوجس أدَى إلى التهميش السريع لاسْتِخْدَامُ اللغة العربية والعربية-السواحيلية.

Abstract: The usage of Arabic and Swahili-Arabic in Central Africa (Congo, Burindi, Rwanda) in the pre-colonization era during colonization The usage of Arabic script in central Africa prior the advent of the European colonizers and during colonization has remained an unknown phenomenon. Nevertheless, many references published during that era, especially those whish are kept in European museums, e.g. the Royal Museum in Tervurin (Belgium), state that Arabic and Swahili- Arabic were used in that region after the arrival of the Sudanese traders from the east and the west and the Swahili traders from the east. This was reported to have taken place during the last decades of the 19th century. These languages were used in correspondence and for religions teaching. Since the turn of the 19th c, however, the colonial authorities, especially the missionaries, were anxious about this state of affairs. This anxiety led to a fast deterioration and marginalization of Arabic and Swahili-Arabic
