Item Knowledge and Attitude of Nurses Toward Administration of Positive Inotropic Drugs in Critical Care Unit in Omdurman Military hospital(Al-Neelain University, 2019) Tarig ALawad Babikir MohamedAbstract Background: Inotropes are an agent that alters the force or energy of muscles contraction. The uses of positive inotropic had been plagued by serious concern regarding increased morbidity and mortality. So the nurse had a big role in drug administration, observations and prevent side effect of medications which decrease length of stay, cost, morbidity and mortality. Aim of the study: The study was undertaken to assess nurses’ knowledge and attitude regarding positive inotropes administration in critical care unit. Methods : It was descriptive cross-sectional hospital base study carried out at Omdurman military hospital among nurses staff of critical care unit , the sample size was (100) total coverage, the data about knowledge and attitude were collected by used closed ended questionnaire which contained 24 questions, data were analyzed by statistical package for social sciences version 21, percentage presented in form of frequency and figures and tables, for group association t. test were used significant at p value less than 0.05 and used likert scale to measure attitude level . Results: General level of knowledge about positive inotropes administration was found poor (56%) and 60% got positive attitude toward positive inotropes administration and there is no association between total knowledge and years of experience and qualification of nurses. The majority of poor knowledge about pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, indication and side effect of positive inotropes . Conclusion: Generally nurses had poor knowledge about positive inotropes administration and more than half got positive attitude. Recommendation: The study recommended that to offer educational programs and upgrading courses with evidence based guidelines based on nurses' needs to improve their knowledge related to administration of inotropics drugs. Item knowledge and Attitude of Mothers under Five Children Regarding Nutrition at Al-Masodiya Health Center 2018(Neelain University, 2019) Rabab Ataelmanan Mohamed AliAbstract Background: The food known is very important for growth and development of children, so that it must be contain all important nutrients, and the meal must be taken on time. Objectives: To study the knowledge and attitude of mothers with under five children regarding nutrition at AL-Masoudyia health center. Method: Community based descriptive cross sectional study design. Tool of data collection was questionnaire. This questionnaire consisted of three parts; first part to assess socio demographic characteristic, second part to study knowledge and third part to study attitude. The sample size was estimated by 162 participants used non probability sampling technique and analyzed by statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) version 16 and presented through figures and tables. Results: Based on the findings this study showed that majority 91.4% of mothers has excellent knowledge about the food different in taste, shape and texture to the child, while more than third 35.2% of mothers have poor knowledge about the benefits of breastfeeding. Only 19.1% of mothers have excellent attitude about the first milk is low but increase with lactation. Conclusions: This study concluded that knowledge of mothers was not enough about the advantage of exclusive breastfeeding and the balance diet. Also attitude of mothers was poor about the health effects on mothers during lactation period. مستخلص البحث المقدمة: الغذاء مهم جدا في نمووتطوير الاطفال بصورة سليمه وصحيحه لذلك من المهم احتوائه على كل المغذيات الضروريه ويجب ان تؤخذ الوجبة في الوقت المناسب . الأهداف دراسة معرفة وسلو ك الأمهات بشان تغذيه الأطفال دون سن الخامسة في مركز صحي المسعودية. المنهجية :دراسة مجتمعية وصفيه مقطعيه, وسيلة جمع البيانات هي الاستبيان المكون من ثلاثة أجزاء, الجزء الأول لتقييم الخصائص الديمغرافية,الجزء الثاني لدراسة معرفة الأمهات والجزء الثالث لمعرفة سلوكيات الأمهات. قدرحجم العينة ب162 من الامهات باسنخدام تقنية العينة الغير احتمالية. وتم تحليل البيانات ببرنامج التحليل الاحصائي للعلوم الاجتماعية الطبعة 16كما تم عرضها بواسطة الاشكال البيانية و الجداول. النتائج :وفقا للنتائج النهائية رأت هذه الدراسة ان معظم الامهات91% لديهم معرفة ممتازة حول تنوع الطعام الذي يقدم للطفل من حيث المذاق والشكل والملمس بينما اكثر من الثلث35. 2% لديهم معرفة ضعيفة عن فوائد الرضاعة الطبيعية. فقط 19% من الأمهات لديهم الاعتقاد الصحيح في ان لبن الام يكون بسيطا في البدايه ويذيد مع الاستمرار في الرضاعة . الخاتمة: خلصت هذه الدراسة الي ان معرفة الأمهات غير كافية حول فوائد الرضاعه الطبيعية المطلقة والغذاء المتوازن. أيضا اعتقاد الأمهات ضعيف حول التاثيرات الصحية التي تحدث للام خلال فترة الرضاعة .Item Technique of Inhaler Among Asthmatic Patients in Elshaab Teaching Hospital(2017) Selwa Abdalla Hammad AlfadoelAbstract Background: Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways associated with bronchial hyper-responsiveness and reversible airflow obstruction. Poor asthma inhaler device use most likely one of the major causes of uncontrolled and frequent admission to hospital. Objectives: The study was carried out to assess patient knowledge and practice regarding inhaler technique. Method :The study was descriptive cross –sectional study carried out at Elshaab Teaching Hospital and data was collected from patient by interview questionnaire and check list, processing analysis was done and final result interpretation was illustrated by computer using SPSS program. Result : This study show that the most patient age is more than 48 years old represented the vast majority of participant is (42%) indicated that the most of patient is older. In relation to Gender distribution revealed that most participant were female(55%) the number of female more than male(44%)and performance regarding steps of (MDI) or salbetumol only 8 of patient achieve the full level score (21%) and 11have moderate score (29%) and 19 of patient have low level score (50%)this revealed that the practice of MDI is poor and same in the DPI. Conclusion: The majority of the asthmatic patients did not use their inhaler correctly, This mean majority of the participants lacked knowledge and skill for effective use of the MDI and (DPI). These findings highlight the lack of understanding of the important role of correct inhaler technique in asthma treatment. Recommendation :Patient need more education about technique of inhaler use and need encourage patient frequent teaching and facilitate the approach of education about inhaler. المستخلص الخلفية: الربو هو مرض التهاب مزمن في الشعب الهوائية المرتبطة الشعب الهوائية فرط الاستجابة وعكس تدفق الهواء(عرقلة). سوء استخدام جهاز الاستنشاق الربو علي الارجح واحدة من الاسباب الرئيسية لعدم السيطرة عليها والدخول المتكرر للمستشفى. الأهداف: تم إجراء الدراسة لتقييم معرفة المريض وممارسة تقنية الاستنشاق. الطريقة: كانت الدراسة دراسة وصفية متعددة القطاعات نفذت في مستشفى الشعب التعليمي وتم جمع البيانات من المريض عن طريق المقابلةوباستخدام الاستبانه وقائمة الفحص, وتم إجراء تحليل النتيجة النهائية بوااسطة الكمبيوتر باستخدام برمامج."SPSS". النتيجة: من هذه الدراسه تبين ان اكثر المرضي اعمارهم اكثر من 48 سنه تمثل الغالبية العظمى من المشاركين42%واشارت الدراسة الى ان معظم المرضى أكبر سنا.وفيما يتعلق بالتوزيع الجنسي(النوعي),كشفت الدراسة ان معظم المشاركين من الاناث55% وفيما يتعلق بخطواتMDIااو سالبتومول هنالك 8 فقط من المرضى حققوا درجة المستوى الكامل21%و11منهم كانت لديهم درجة متوسطة 29% و19من المرضى لديهم درجة منخفضة50% وهذا يعني ان ممارسة تقنية MDIضعيفة ونفس الشئ في تقنية ممارسةDPI الخاتمة :غالبية المرضى الذين يعانون من الربو لم يستخدموا جهاز الاستنشاق بشكل صحيح, هذه الغالبية العظمى من المشاركين يفتقرون الى المعرفة والمهارة للاستخدام الفعال لل MDIandDPI هذه النتاج تسلط الضوء على عدم فهم الدور الفعال لتقنية الاستنشاق الصحيحة في علاج الربو. التوصية:يحتاج المريض الى مزيد من التعليم حول تقنية استخدام الاستنشاق ونحتاج الى تشجيع المريض لتعليم متكرر وتسهيل نهج التعليم حول الاستنشاق.Item STRENGTHES AND WEAKNESS OF POSTNATAL CARE: PERSPECTIVES OF WOMEN OF SAAD ABU ALELLA TEACHING HOSPITAL KHARTOUM SUDAN 2015(AL Neelain University, 2015) Mona Zaid EltahirAbstract Postnatal care is very important because the postnatal period is critical period for women and her baby. Aim of study was to assess the strengths and weakness of postnatal care perspective of women in saad abualella teaching hospital. Across-sectional descriptive hospital based study design was conducted among postnatal women who have delivered spontaneous vaginal delivery attending to the postnatal ward. The sample size of this Study was 133 postnatal women convenience sampling technique through interviewing questionnaire. This questionnaire consisted of two sections, section one Socio demographic data, and section tow is Quality of Postnatal Care. Results of this study showed that most of women oriented about postnatal care, in addition to most of them were assisted to newborn care; also more than half of women were oriented of visiting follow-up. Conclusion of this study that the women in postnatal ward were provided good care by the nurses, all treatment was given in time and more than half of women were satisfy of this care. This study recommended that the nurses must be provide updating training program about quality of care to provision good quality of care according to the new guidelines and evidence based practice and women must be take program for any new in postnatal period by aspiration and readingItem Overview of Health Status of Older People in El Gadarif locality-Gadarif state- Eastern of Sudan 2014(AL Neelain University, 2014) Mahassin Mohammed Osman MohammedABSTRACT Introduction: Geriatric population in Sudan is relatively small. Yet it is important to improve health care quality of elderly population. However, lack of in-depth research on this subject is a major obstacle for understanding and improving geriatric health quality and services. This study attempted to bridge this information gap about health status of older people in El Gadarif locality. Methodology: This research was a descriptive cross-sectional study. Data was collected by cluster random sample survey covering 388 participants. SPSS was used for statistical analysis, and chi- square was used for testing association between different variables. Results: The main findings of the elderly survey showed that49.5% of participants their age (65-74), 52.3% are male, 58.5% were married,50.5% illiterate,60.6%dependse in their income on their sons,96.9% had social interaction with family and community,85% described their health to be good or fair, 67.78% were suffering from one or more chronic diseases, 48.8% had no problem with their vision 82.7% had no problem with their hearing ,72.4% did not have urine incontinence,88.1% could control their bowel, 55.4% had no depression,55.9% had no memory problem, 66.1% were sexually active, 60.3% did not use any type of medical treatment, 70.1% had always someone helping them at home, 80.9% always practiced their worship, 92.5% never smoked ,88.7% never drank alcohols,96.9% never take snuff, 20.6% practice exercise sport, 30.2% had special diet, 91% did not require assistance in eating or dressing or bathing, 46.4% did their shopping without assistance,75% took their medications by themselves , 23.5% had unattainable needs. Conclusion: health problems of Gadarif elder persons are similar in some aspects to the health problems of old population in some others countries. It was also apparent that the geriatric population in El Gadarif were mainly cared for and supported by their families.Item Midwives Practice in Active Management of Third Stage of Labor in Omudruman State Hospitals- Sudan 2016(AL Neelain University, 2016) NdagireNuruhABSTRACT Background Postpartum hemorrhage is one of the leading causes of maternal death worldwide; it occurs in about 10.5% of births and accounts for over 130,000 maternal deaths annually1.Active management of the third stage labor is a feasible and inexpensive intervention that helps saving thousands of women’s lives of labor (AMTSL) includes administration of uterotonic drug, controlled cord traction and uterine massage after delivery of placenta. The AMTSL guidelines were introduced in 2003, modified in 2006, and has been part of the national guidelines in Sudan since 2009. Objective The aim of the study was to evaluate midwives practice in the Active management of third stage of labor in Omudruman state Hospitals. Methods This is a descriptive cross sectional hospital based study conducted on total coverage of 50 midwives and 45 women who underwent normal vaginal delivery during the study period. Data was collected using individual instructed questionnaire to assess midwives practice towards the active management of third stage of labor and observational checklist to observe delivering women during the third stage of labor and to assess the midwives implementation of the active management of third stage of labor. Results Use of uterotonic drug during the third stage of labor was nearly universal. Correct use of active management of the third stage of labor was found in only 26.7% of observed deliveries due to multiple deficiencies in practice, policies regarding active management of third stage of labor were. The association between approach in delivering of the placenta and timing of administration of usual dose of oxytocin was significant. Midwives experience in years greatly influenced the method of placenta delivery. Conclusion and recommendation The implementation of active management of third stage of labor is ineffective. Studies are needed to identify the most effective components of active management so that the most efficient package of practices can be promoted. Keywords: Oxytocin, Controlled cord traction, Uterine massage and Active management of third stage of labor.Item Assessment of Nurses’ knowledge regarding Pap Smear test at Omdurman military hospital in Omdurman state 2015(AL Neelain University, 2015) JADDAH AWAD IBRAHIMAbstract Background: Nurses are a key position to disseminated knowledge for women either at risk or no so investigator nurses knowledge regard cervical cancer and pap smear is essential (26) Aim: This study aim to assess nurses’ knowledge regarding Pap smear test at Omdurman military hospital Omdurman state. Methodology: A study was descriptive cross sectional hospital based design. The populations of this study were nurses who worked at obstetric department, sample size estimated by 100 nurses. Tool of data collection was questionnaire consisted of two parts first part socio demographic data and second part information related to nursing knowledge through interviewing questionnaire. The data analyzing by Statisti c Package for Social Science (SPSS) version (16). Results: The study revealed that there is a statistical significant difference between knowledge and age of participant regarding Pap smear test, also most of participant not receiving training; finally minority of participants applied a Pap smear test on themselves. Conclusion: Regarding knowledge of participant about Pap smear test have fair knowledge, Majority of participant have good knowledge about when to starting Pap smear test.Item Quality of Routine Care for Newborns in Postnatal Wards in Public Hospitals of Omdurman locality, (August -December 2014)(AL Neelain University, 2014) Misk Elyaman Ahmed AbdallaAbstract Background: Almost two-thirds of infant deaths occur in the first month of life, among those, more than two- thirds die in their first week and among those, two thirds die in their first 24 hours after birth Improvement in the survival of the newborn is dependent on healthcare that spans antenatal, intranatal and postnatal periods, i.e. interventions directed to mothers during pregnancy; labour and delivery have a profound impact on newborn survival especially during the first week of life. (1) Objective : This study was conducted in public hospitals of Omdurman locality to evaluate quality of routine nursing care for newborns in postnatal wards in public hospitals of Omdurman locality during August to December 2014 . Materials & methods: This cross sectional descriptive hospital based study among registered nurses/ midwives. They were interviewed and observed in health institutions while caring the mother and newborn prior to discharge regarding the daily care of newborns. Direct personal interviews questionnaires were used to collect data from participant at their respective places of work. The data was analyzed using SPSS program Version 15.0. Results: The study showed that the nurse/midwives had good knowledge (21.4%), (6.0%) had fair knowledge and (72.6%) had poor knowledge regarding the care of newborn. The mean practice regarding the daily care of the newborns was only found 33% which indicates poor practices. The resources available used were (33.3 %) available not used were (12.5%) and not available were (57.1%.) Regarding mothers satisfaction with daily care provided for their newborns in postnatal ward, only (2.6%) were fully satisfied, (13.3%) were satisfied, (40.9%) were poorly satisfied and (43.2%) were not satisfied. Conclusion: It can be concluded that only (21.4%)of nurses/ midwives had good knowledge which consider poor knowledge and poor practice (33%) on daily care of newborns in postnatal wards.Item Aneelain University Graduate college Faculty of nursing science Assessment of knowledge of pregnant women towards antenatal care in health centers in Aboseid - Omdurman locality 2014(AL Neelain University, 2014) Omjema Yousif Idriss MahamoodAbstract:- INTRODUCTION:- Antenatal care (ANC) is the care a woman receives throughout her pregnancy in order to ensure that both the mother and child remain healthy. OBJECTIVE :- the aim of this study to assess knowledge and practce of pregnant women towards antenatal care services in health centers in Aboseid . Materials and methods : descriptive cross-sectional facility based Study. The data were collected from 136 pregnant women who attending in (15) health centers,in Aboseid Omdurman locality . Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS version 17). Results :- Study revealed more than half (51.5%) of the pregnant women who had one antenatal care visit and 5.1% who had four antenatal care visit, First vis i t 22.8% of pregnant women came in their first trimester and 52.2% came in their Second trimester. 77.20% of the pregnant women had poor knowledge concerning t ime of visits during pregnancy. the pregnant women poor knowledge about early antenatal care screening test & test conduct during first visit & the danger signs in pregnancy 86.8%, 81.6%, and 89.0% respectively. 68.4% of the pregnant women receive the Tetanus toxoid, while31.6% not receive the Tetanus toxoid, and only 41.9% of the pregnant women received three doses from Tetanus toxoid while 15.4 % received one doses. Conclusion:- the knowledge of the mothers about antenatal care was poor among them.
