    Diabetic Patients Knowledge and practices Regarding Foot Care at Jabir Abu Eliz Diabetic center In 2017

    Previous research shows that the knowledge and practices about foot care was low in diabetic patients. good knowledge and practices among diabetic patients will reduce the risk of diabetic foot complications. Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the knowledge and practices regarding foot care among diabetic patients in Jabir Abu Eliz diabetic center in Khartoum state. Research Methodology: This study was a descriptive cross-sectional study to assess patients foot care knowledge and practices. The data was collected from diabetic patients in Jabir Abu Eliz diabetic center, 376 patients participated voluntary to answer questionnaire. Result: Among 376 diabetic patients more than half of the patients had poor knowledge about disease and foot care, while 37.8% of patients had low foot care practices , 46% had satisfy foot care practices and 16.2% had good foot care practices. 39.1% of patients inspect their feet daily, 20.5% use mirror for inspection . just 9% check the water temperature before using. 34% of patients wearing diabetic shoes. Conclusion : The Knowledge of foot care was poor and foot care practices was low. Findings indicate the need for starting a well organized and structured educational program designed for foot care in diabetics. Hence, an improve the better continuous program of periodic screens in high risk patients as to prevent diabetic foot problem and complications.
