Item Knowledge of Mothers Regarding Nutrition of Under Five -Khartoum Locality – Sudan(AL Neelain University, 2015) Fatima Eid Mohammed AhmmedAbstract 8 Healthy eating and physical activity are essential for proper growth and development in childhood. To help children develop patterns of healthy eating from an early age, it is important that the food and eating patterns to which they are exposed – both at home and outside the home – are those which promote positive attitudes to good nutrition. (1 ( The overall objective was to study knowledge of mothers regarding nutrition of under 5 year . Methodology : this is a descriptive cross sectional facility based study conducted at health center at Khartoum locality. The study subjects were 258 mothers of under five. Stratified sampling technique was used to draw the intended sample size. Administered questionnaire was developed, pretested and used to generate quantitative data; data were analyzed using SPSS version (16 .( Result: ( 46.5%) participants were continues exclusive breast feeding up to age 6 month. (46.90%) of the participants were fair in knowledge of contented of balanced diet. The study revealed highly significant relationship between employed mothers and the type of food given during first 6 month P value = (.001 .( While the study revealed strong significant relationship between mothers level of education and advantage of breast feeding P value = (000 .( Conclusion: the study revealed that the knowledge of mothers about advantage of exclusive breast feeding and the knowledge about balanced diet were fair that could be risk for their children
