The early diagnosis and effective treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) can improve the clinical outcome of the disease. Recently, anti-Cyclic-Citrullinated protein antibodies (Anti-CCP) are found to be more specific to RA arthritis although in the early stages when the arthritis is undifferentiated. The objective of this study was to determine the clinical importance and the prevalence of anti-CCP in early diagnosis of Sudanese patients with RA. Methodology This work was a cross-sectional study conducted at Al Ribat teaching hospital (from June 2012 to ? 2014). The study sample included 56 Sudanese patients, known patients of RA who fulfilled the ACR criteria. Demographic and clinical data were collected by questionnaires. All patients and controls sera were investigated for anti-CPP by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results The mean age of RA patients in this study was 46.0 (±11.7) years. The control group consisted of 56 Sudanese apparently healthy subjects, 27 (48%) of them were female with mean age of 37 ±17.2years. The anti-CCP antibodies were detected in 60.7% of cases, and in two (3.6%) of the control group. The sensitivity of anti-CCP was 60.7% and specificity of 96.4%. Anti-CCP test has a maximum proportionate reduction in uncertainty (PRU) of 94% for a positive result and 59% for a negative result. Conclusions Anti-CCP antibody has a higher diagnostic specificity and positive predictive value than rheumatoid factor; however its sensitivity was low.Item Comparison of Rheumatoid Factor and anti-Cyclic-Citrullinated protein antibodies for the Diagnosis of rheumatic arthritis in Khartoum, Sudan(جامعة النيلين - كلية الدراسات العليا, 2014-12-22) Shaaban Khudair; Mowahib Al Edressy; Mohammed Abbas; Ahmed BoladBackground: The objective of the current study was to determine the sensitivity and specificity of anti-Cyclic-Citrullinated protein antibodies (anti-CCP antibodies) as compared to that of Rheumatoid Factor (RF) in diagnosing patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) Methodology Fifty six samples were collected from Sudanese patients (46 females, 9 males) with rheumatic diseases who visited the rheumatology clinic ElRibat Hospital, Khartoum, Sudan. Titers of RF and anti-CCP antibodies of each patient were recorded. Sensitivity and specificity of the test were evaluated using ELISA as the gold standard method. Results The sensitivity of (RF) test (41/56) was 73.2% whereas the sensitivity of Anti CCP test (34/56) was 60.7%. The specificity of RF test (44/56) was 78.6%, whereas the specificity of Anti CCP test (54/56) was 96.4%. Conclusions The combination of anti-CCP and RF tests provides nearly 100% and thus could be helpful in the differential diagnosis of RA and other rheumatic diseasesItem Cryptosporidiosis among under-five-year-old Sudanese Children with Diarrhoea: A commonly underdiagnosed Disease(جامعة النيلين - كلية الدراسات العليا, 2014-12-22) Gihan El Taieb; Adam AACryptosporidiosis is a well recognized diarrhoeal disease that leads to dehydration and electrolytes disturbance. Under – five – year - old children, both immunosuppressed and immunocompetent are affected by this disease. They may succumb from fluid deficit and electrolytes derangement if not promptly treated. The disease is commonly underdiagnosed in the paediatric clinical practice in SudanItem Effect of Age Group Length and Degree of Development on Population Forecast using Cohort Component Method & ARIMA Method(جامعة النيلين - كلية الدراسات العليا, 2014-12-22) Raga Idrees AbdoonAbstract In this paper two disaggregate methods of forecast are compared namely, Cohort component method, and ARIMA method. The comparison is made with respect to the effect of age group length and status of population on the precision of the forecast. The age group lengths considered are5 years, 10 years and 15 years. The important conclusion to arrive at when applying these methods is that the precision of forecast declines with increase in age group length, and as expected, forecast for more developed region is the most precise. Awad Elkareem; Samah Mohamed Fadlla Elmula; Abdel Karim SabirThe aim of this study is to investigate the effect of salting and sun drying on the nutritive value of Oreochromis niloticus products. Fresh fish specimens of O. niloticus were subjected to salting and drying. Two salt concentrations were experimented: 20 % and 30 % wt/ vol. Fish proximate composition including the determination of moisture, ash, oil and protein contents, fat: protein ratio and caloric values were estimated. In addition, the total bacterial load was identified in the two different salt concentrations. The results which are statistically analyzed showed very clear significant differences in moisture, ash, protein contents and energy value of Oreochromis niloticus among the different treatments (P<0.05). No significant difference was detected in fat % and fat: protein ratio (P>0.05). The microbiological examination revealed that fresh and salted dried products of the O. niloticus are within the acceptable levels of the specified microbiological limits recommended by international agencies for fish and fishery products. Computing resources are delivered by Virtual Machines (VMs). In such a scenario, resource scheduling algorithms play an important role where the aim is to schedule applications effectively so as to reduce the turn-around time and improve resource utilization. The problem of this paper is how to dynamically allocate the submitted jobs to the available resources in order to complete the tasks within a minimum turn-around time as well as utilizing cloud resources effectively. The objective of this paper is to propose new scheduling algorithm on cloud computing environment using Shortest Remaining Job First (SRJF) algorithm. The methodology of this research depends on simulation using cloudsim. The results of this paper revealed that the proposed algorithm (SRJF) performed better than the default scheduling algorithm.
