    abstract - The aim of this study is to know the association between mental health and academic performance among the pupils of Neleen Bank of Manufacture Development Group (NBMDG) basic school. The researcher took systematic random sample from females and males pupils of 7"‘ & 8th classes of (NBMDG) basic schools in Khartoum locality and Khartoum international basic schools. ‘ The sample size was (120) pupil’s males to female’s ratio were equal. They have been selected according to purposive method. The researcher designed mental health measure to assess mental health of the pupils. The academic performance of the pupils was been assessed by ordinary schools examinations. The researcher used the following statistical methods:- 1- Pearson correlation significance. 2- Combach’s-Alpha equation to measure consistency. 3- Two independent samples T-test. 4- One sample T-test . 5- Examination results degrees at the end of the first term of the academic year 2006 — 2007. Results:- 1- Mental health of basic school’s pupils in positive. 2- Basic school’s pupils have elevated academic performance 3- There are significant differences between males group and females group (Higher than males) regarding academic performance. 4- No significant differences between male and female groups regarding mental health. 5- No significant differences between 7m & 8m class’s pupils in the mental health. ' 6- No statistically evident differences between 7"‘ & 8m class’s pupils in the academic performance. 7- There is association not statistically evident between mental health and academic perfonnance among basic school’s pupils. At the end of the study the researcher mentioned some recommendations to promote education practice. And she suggested further studies in same area.
