    Prevalence of Congenital Heart Diseases among Gender and the Effect of Maternal Age, Gravida and Tribe in Such diseases in Sudanese People

    ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to determine gender prevalence on congenital heart defect (CHD) and study the effect of maternal gravida, tribe and age in association with the occurrence of congenital heart defects , more than two hundred children attended the pediatric clinic in Sudan cardiac center, Ahmed Gasim cardiac center and Alsalam cardiac center were studied over aperiod from (the first of September-to the 30 of December 2013) using medical history ,physical examination , chest X-ray, electrocardiography and echocardiography we used . Two Hundred of the cases had congenital heart defects , the most common congenital heart defect were ventricular septal defect (VSD) 40.5%, atrial septal defect (ASD)19.5%, paten ductus arteriosus (PDA)16.5%,tetralogy of fallot (TOF)15%,pulmonary stenosis(PS)4.5%,aortic stenosis(AS)4%. 89 (45.5%) of patients with congenital heart defects were male and 111(55.5%)were females their age range it between (1month-15 years)most of them underweight. The commonest affected tribe were gaalia and bagara.
