Item Anatomical Location of the mandibular foramen ; and Anatomical guidelines to the foramen in Sudanese Cadavers.(Neelain University, 2014) Eman Alameen Abdelrhman AbdullahAbstract Background: The mandibular foramen (MP) is an opening on the internal surface of the ramus of the mandible for the passage of the divisions of the mandibular vessels and nerve . The aim of this study is to determine the position Sudanese cadaveric of the MF from various anatomical landmarks in several mandibles. The assessment of the MF is of a considerable importance for inferior alveolar nerve anesthesia and dento alveolar surgery planning. Incorrect estimations of its location might be one of the reasons of unsuccessful anesthesia of the inferior alveolar nerve. V Place and period of study Khartoum mortuary , colleges of medicine , dissection rooms ( Khartoum University , Almogterbeen University , Alrazi college , Karary University , Alwatania college , Om Durman Islamic University, Bahry University , Alzaeem Alazharey University , and Sudan International University.) The study covered the period from ls‘ of September 2013 to 15‘ of April 2014. Materials and methods : A total of l02 cadaveric mandibles were examined, of which 93 Were of dentulous and 9 were of adentulous. The measurements were taken from the anterior border of the ramus (coronoid notch) to the midportion of the MF and then from the midportion of the MF to the other landmarks such as occlusal plane, inferior border, sigmoid notch, and condyle .
