    Effectiveness of Teaching Program in Awareness believes and Attitudes of Breast self-examination among Al-Quwayiyah Applied Medical Science Students, Shaqra University, Saudi Arabia.

    Abstract: Background: Breast cancer is the most common women’s tumours and reported as second leading cause of cancer deaths in Saudi Arabia. It considered as a progressive poor prognosis disease if detected late, but it can be early detected by Breast self-examination; which is a simple, nun-invasive, risk-free and low-cost method. Applied medical sciences female students’ are a part of their community that affected by breast cancers more-over health service providers of the future, their teaching of family members, neighbours, friends and the community helps in early detection of breast cancer and thus can reduce the morbidity or mortality Objective: To study the effectiveness of teaching program on elevation the level of knowledge behaviour and attitudes of Breast self-examination among applied medical sciences female students’ in Al-Quwayiyah - Saudi Arabia. Methodology: A total of 108 students were interviewed and assessed pre-and post-interventional educational program which administrated in form of lecture, demonstration and supervised practice concerning Breast self-examination using audio-visual aids as well as leaflets distributed. Results: knowledge of the participants increased from (42.9%) to (96.4%) pre- to post-test as an effect of the planed educational program; Moreover their attitudes became more positive and that increased from (56.5%) pre-intervention, to (84.0%) post-intervention. The planed educational programme had significant improvement in respondents' knowledge and Attitudes regarding Breast self-examination Conclusion: The knowledge and attitudes of studied students regarding Breast self-examination are lower than the researchers’ expectations before the educational program. However, there was a significant improvement in their knowledge and attitudes after the intervention with the educational program. Key words: Breast Self-examination. Knowledge. Attitudes.Nursing.
