The biggest problem currently facing the nursing profession is the implementation of nursing process. The overall aim of this study is to assesses the challenges regarding the application of nursing process. Method: the present study is a descriptive cross-sectional hospital-based study, conducted in 2018 on nurses working at three governmental pediatric hospitals in Khartoum State – Sudan. 138 nurses from different departments were enrolled as the sample of the study. As the major instrument of collecting primary data, the researcher developed a structured questionnaire which consisted of three parts. A Likert scale was used to measure the level of nurses’ knowledge about nursing process. The collected data were analyzed by using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25. The data were presented in form of tabulation and graph. Results: the findings revealed that: one third (33.3%) of the respondents were aged between (24 – 34) years; half (50.0%) of the respondents had a BSc. in Nursing and most of them had work experience of more than 10 years in various departments. The results also indicated that60.9% of the nurses were responsible for more than 10 patients per shift. They further show that while (37.0%) of the nurses had excellent knowledge in nursing process, (63%) of them did not apply nursing process properly. It was also found out that (19.6%) of the respondent nurses applied nursing process all the time to patients who were present in the hospital. The researcher concluded that the level of nurses' practice is poor, whereas the level of knowledge is excellent. Significant factors which affected the application of nursing process were: workload, time and resources. Key terms: nursing process, factors, application, pediatric hospitals.Item Competence of Nurses in Providing Care Management of Premature Rupture of Membranes at Maternity Hospitals.(Faculty of Nursing Sciences - Al Neelain University, 2020) Ihsan Elyamni AbdullahBackground Nurses provide critical, life-saving care to women and their babies. Nightingale described the need to document data with an aim of collecting and retrieving information to aid in proper patient management. Previous study, confirmed that whereas the aim of documentation in Nightingale’s time was mainly to communicate implementation of doctors orders. Today’s nursing documentation is applied in all the steps of the Nursing process from assessment to the evaluation. Virginia Henderson, a nurse theorist, promoted the use of documentation when she introduced the idea of using the nursing care plans to communicate nursing care during the 1930’s. However, the nursing documentation was discarded after the patient had been discharged. Since 1970’s, nursing documentation has become more important reflecting the changes in nursing practice, regulatory agency requirements and legal guidelines. Nursing documentation has also evolved as an important mechanism in determining monetary reimbursement of the care provided to clients/patients (1)Over the last few decades, more efforts have been made to advance nursing documentation to increase its usability. One of these initiatives was the development and use of research based standardized nursing terminologies such as the International Classification of Nursing Practice (ICNP) and the International Nursing Diagnoses Classification (NANDA International) Standardized nursing languages provide common definitions of nursing concepts and allow for theory based and comparable nursing data to emerge there for they promote shared understanding and continuity of care and make it possible to use records for research and management purposes The introduction of electronic documentation systems into care practice has led to the transformation of nursing record-keeping. Electronic documentation systems can improve health professionals access to more complete, accurate, legible and up-to-date patient data(2) Background: Documentation is sometimes viewed as burdensome and even as a distraction from patient care.)3) Documentation and record keeping is a vital part of registered nursing practice. The quality and coordination of client care depends on the communication between different health-care providers. (4) Nursing documentation is a vital component of safe, ethical and effective nursing practice, regardless of the context of practice or whether the documentation is paper-based or electronic(5)Item Effectiveness of Teaching Program in Awareness believes and Attitudes of Breast self-examination among Al-Quwayiyah Applied Medical Science Students, Shaqra University, Saudi Arabia.(Faculty of Nursing Sciences - Al Neelain University, 2020) Aisha M .Adam, Areeg E Alhoime; Shrog S AlqahtaneeAbstract: Background: Breast cancer is the most common women’s tumours and reported as second leading cause of cancer deaths in Saudi Arabia.
