Design: This is a retrospective cohort case control study carried out in Khartoum state. lflaterial and methods: The study sample consists of zooparticipants selected from the relevant population. Most of the study's participants were Arab and Africans. A sample of 100 was collected from different fuel stations workers (cases), and another 100 samples were also selected from non-fuel stations workers (control). From each group, two samples of sputum and urine were collected, and then the samples were processed, stained and microscopically examined. Results: The acute inflammatory cells were seen in sputum smears in 28 of the cases and 18 of the controls, and the chronic inflammatory cells were seen in 9 of both cases and the controls. ln the urine specimens the acute inflammatory cells were seen in 19 of the cases and 5 of the control and the chronic inflammatory cells were seen in 2 of the cases and none of the controls show chronic inflammation. More than 44 archaeological sites were recorded, dated from the prehistoric period to the tlthman colonization, between lllilaga to Zahana in the end of the lake in sslnn length. Some archaeological sites have been chosen for excavation, as a settlement dated to the Neolithic period.
