(Al-Neelain University, 2019-02) Lodan Emad Elnoor Mohieldeen
The ultimate goal of radiotherapy is to give a higher dose as possible to the tumor while keeping at the minimum dose to the surrounding healthy tissues. The accuracy of the dose delivering is mainly effect by the accuracy of the radiotherapy machines. That’s why it is recommended to perform a full quality control and clinical validation for any radiotherapy machine before its use for treatment of patients. In this study the output for two linear accelerator A and B were measured for photon beam using different radiation fields. The beam energy for Linear A was 6 mv. While the beam energies for Linear B were 6, 9 and 15 mv. So the aim of the study was to check the physical characteristic for each beam, field size and energy and compare it with the international protocols TRS (Teqnical Report Series No. 398) and BJR (British Journal of Radiology) 3D computerized phantom (blue phantom, IBA), ionization chamber (PinPoint 3D TW type 31016) and electrometer used to collect the date for each beam. Omnipro-Accept Version 7.4b software was used for the analysis of the data. The data were collected according to the TRS (Teqnical Report Series No. 398) and BJR (British Journal of Radiology) Protocols. The result showed that, evaluated parameters that describe radiation beam were found to be accurate and within the limit of international protocols BJR and TRS 398.
