Item Acanthamoeba Keratitis association with corneal ulcer in Khartoum state(Al-Neelain University, 2017-03) Sausan Mustafa Musa Mohammed OsmanA study of Acanthamoeba species association with corneal ulcers was conducted in one hundred twenty patients with some forms of disease was detected. The sample consisted of 104 female and 16 male, age groups between 15-80. In consider of past history 18 patients had history of trauma, 89 patients using contact lenses and 13 patients had exposed to foreign body. Attempts to isolate Acanthamoeba parasite from corneal scraping stained by gram and Giemsa stains using direct light microscopy, it showed only four cases had Acanthamoeba keratitis, their ages between 25-60. One male and three females. Three of positive cases had a past history of trauma and one positive case using contact lenses. Acanthamoeba could not be defined as a main cause of keratitis but could be consider as opportunistic.
