Item The Effect of Tamarind(Tamarindus lndica) Product on Serum lron and Reticulocyte Count among Anemic Patients and Healthy Volunteer(Aneelain University, 2020) Rahama ldris Salih IbrahimBackground:Tamarind is common tree in tropical africa and west of sudan ,this fruit is rich in manyimportant vitamins and minerals.Since the Tamarind powder contain magnuisium and potassiumand vit-C,which help absorption of iron from the diet ,so it enhance increasing of scum iron level in people who suffering from IDA. Methods:Intervention study conducted in period from December 2018 to February 20l9.In this study eight subjects(40 anaemic individuals &40 healthy volunteers ).For all aneamic and healthy we estimated Reticulocyte count and serum iron in pre intake of Tamarind juice and then afier 8 weeks from intake by using bio system for serum iron and supervital stain for reticulocyte count Result: In this study there was significant increase in Reticulo cyte count and serum iron p.value(0.02I,0.01I)respectively in case group and sinificant decrease in Reticulocyte count p.value (0.043)and significant increase serum iron p.value (0.033) in control group afier drinkind of juice Conclusion: There was significant increase in Relic count and serum iron in anaemic group afier drinking of Tamarind juice.there was no statstical differant between case and control groups.
