Isolation of Bio - active compound from Tamarindus indica L Fruits

Abstract

studies of T. indica L fruits’ methanolic extract led to isolation of the compound 1, 2- Benzene dicarboxylic acid, diisooctylester, which has potent activity against Salmonellae species. Isolation was performed by Column Chromatography (CC) and Preparative T hin Layer Chromatography (PTLC). Structure of the isolated compound was tentatively identified by Gas Chromatography (GC) coupled with Mass Spectroscopy (MS) method, and the phytochemical analysis indicated that the isolated compound has a molecular formula C24H38O4 and a molecular weight 390.5561
