Synthesis and Characterization of Cyano- Cobaloximes Ligands

Abstract

Substitution reactions of cyan(ligand)cobal0xime with N-donor ligands such as L-Acetamide and L-Urea have been studied as incoming nucleophiles . These cyano (ligand) cobaloximes have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of IR, ‘H and BC NMR spectroscopy .The frequency change in IR spectra and shifi in the NMR were explained on the basis of back-donation of electrons from metal to the ligand and basicity of the ligand .The v(CN) stretching frequency of free cyanide ion occurs at (2080) cm".Up0n coordination to metal ,the v(CN) shift to higher frequency (2110) cm" due to better o-donor and poorer 1:-accepter properties of cyanide ion.
