Abstract
Background: SLC30A8 rs11558471 (26465A/G SLC30A8) is Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP), which was found to be associated with Diabetes Type 2 in Han Chinese and European population and represents three other SNPS (rs3802177, rs13266634, rs11558471 ). Variation in SLC30A8 may affect zinc accumulation in insulin granules, affecting insulin stability, storage, or secretion. Higher total zinc intake may attenuate the glucose-raising effect of the rs11558471 SLC30A8 (zinc transporter) variant.
Objective: To determine the role of 26465A/G SLC30A8 in susceptibility to T2D in selected Sudanese population
