The purposes of this study are to measure patient entrance surface dose (ESD) for interavenous urography (IVU) adult patient, and evaluate the organ and effective doses. A total of 189 patients were examined in three Hospitals in Khartoum state. ESDs were measured for patient using thermoleumenance detectors (TLDs). Effective doses (E) were calculated using published conversion factors and methods recommended by the national Radiological Protection Board (NRPB).It was found the mean patient dose was( 12.4±8.7) mGy and the mean and range of the effective dose was 12mSv (2.55-64.1) mSv respectivly. The radiation dose in this study was found to be higher compared to previous studies. A dedicated X-rays machine with additional filtration is recommended for patient dose reductionsen_US
