Abstract

Abstract The study reported in this typescript was conducted to monitor the growth pattem, productive performance and external and internal egg characteristics of Hy-line (w36) layers, introduced for the first time in the Sudan, compared to the Hisex white layers which were employed as control. 500 one day old baby-chick of Hy-line W36 layers, imported from Egypt, and 400 day old l-lisex white chicks provided locally by Coral company (Khartoum) were employed as experimental birds. During the period from day old to week 9"‘ birds belong to each experimental group were reared in group. From week lO“' to week 60 (end of experiment) l50 birds of each group (treatment) were alloted to 5 replicates (30 birds /replicates) following the completely randomized design. Experimental birds (Hyline W36 and Hisex white were accommodated separately in open houses bedded with wood shavings. All experimental birds fed on the same ration at the same time. The ration composition was changed periodically according to different stages of growth and production. Results obtained during group feeding period (wkl-wk9) indicated that live weight was 621 g for Hy-line (w36) while Hisex white recorded 619 g. the mortality rates reported during this period were 2.6% and vm
