Abstract

Abstract Probiotics are living microorganisms which when taken in adequate amount provides benefit to the host. While this beneficial effect was originally thought to stem fi'om improvements in the intestinal microbial balance, there is now substantial evidence that probiotics can also provide benefits by modulating immune ftmctions. Probiotics are one such altemative that are supplemented to the host where by and large species of Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium and Saccharomyces are considered as main probiotics. the isolate aimed to analyze the antibacterial potential against some Gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Antibacterial sensitivity was done by well diffusion method. The Antibacterial assay was performed on six types of isolate bacteria. Results showed the presence of antibacterial effects among the Lactobacillus acidophilus that was isolated from yoghurts. The spectrum of their antibacterial effects varied against the selected pathogenic bacteria. it found to be more effective against B.cereus (25mm) followed by K. pneumonia (24mm), E.coli (22mm), S. typhi
