Preliminary Report on the Archaeological Research of the Blue Nile Region

Abstract

This paper aims to study the archaeology of the Blue Nile region, particularly the area endangered by the re-hightening of Roseris Dam. Many archaeological sites were investigated during the survey and excavation work which has been done by The National Corporation for Antiquities and Museums (NCAM). The sites could be dated the period from the prehistoric to the Islamic civilization. The work covered different burials customs and variety of graves goods which indicates the richness of the area and the continuation of some burials tradition in it. المستخلص: تهدف هذه الورقه الي دراسة اثار منطقة اقليم النيل الازرق وخصوصا تلك المهدده بتعلية خزان الروصيرص. تم اكتشاف العديد من المواقع خلال المسوحات والحفريات التي قامت بها الهيئة العامة للاثار والمتاحف, حيث خلصت نتائج هذه الاعمال الي تسجيل العديد من المواقع التي ترجع لفترات ما قبل التاريخ وحتي الفترة الاسلامية. كذلك لوحظ وجود العديد من الاختلافات في عادات الدفن بالمدافن , بالاضافه الي غناها بالاثاث الجنائزي, الشئ الذي يؤكد كذلك استمرار بعض الطقوس من تلك الفترة
