Abstract This community based descriptive study was conducted in Alazozab area (western Khartoum). The objective of this study is to identify the frequency of the presence of S. mansoni eggs in urine of patients with urinary schistosomiasis. Participants (100 males, aged between 14-22 years) were recruited from Alazozab area (West Khartoum) where the White Nile protruded to form stagnant pay. The area is known of being endemic with S. haematobium. Urine examination for S. haematobium was performed for each participant by sedimentation method of end stream urine. Clinical examination for cardinal signs was conducted. The overall prevalence of urinary schistosomiasis was 36%, among which 30% was infected with S. haematobium alone and 6% were found mixed with S. mansoni. The cardinal signs of urinary schistosomiasis (macrohaematuria, microhaematuria, and proteinuria) were most prevalent among individuals with high egg count. We confirmed that there was no spill-out or contamination of specimens. This study concluded that the frequency of S. mansoni eggs found in urine of study population was 6% and it was found mixed with S. haematobium..en_US
