dc.description.abstract1 ABSTRACT The Melut basin is one of the rift basins of the interior Sudan, although several companies have made valuable contributions to the geological understanding of the various sedimentary basins in Sudan. This study particularly deals with sub-surface structure and stratigraphy facies analysis (seismic inversion). The study is designed to highlight main sediments (top Adar, top Yabus and top Samma), using special softwares for interpretation (Geoframe and Petrel) and Hampson-Russell for seismic inversion. These different seismic results provide excellent illustrations to the use of basic geometric principles to distinguish even slight inversion from original extension which further could be integrated with other geological and geophysical data to answering question concerning for oil potential and provide targets and leads for further exploration work.en_US
