A cloud point extraction process using the nonionic surfactant (Triton X – 100) to extract cadmium (II) from aqueous solutions was applied. The method is based on the complexation reaction of Cd(II) with benzil bis(Semicarbazone) (BBSC) as a complexing agent and extraction of the complex formed. The analyte ions are quantitatively extracted to the phase rich in the nonionic surfactant t- octylphenoxy poly ethoxy ethanol (C14H22 O(C2H4O)n following centrifugation. The optimal extraction and reaction conditions were studied, and the analytical characteristics of the method were obtained. Linearity was obeyed in the range of 0.25 – 2.5 µg.ml-1 of Cd(II) ion.en_US
