Abstract Gasoline is one of most important sources of energy in life but when manufactured with low octane number it will have negative impact on the engine perfonnance (high knocking) beside environment and human health. Type (Y) zeolite was prepared by using local materials (Nile slit, K-feldspar and trona) doped with finely metal (Sr) have been used in hydrocracking and catalytic cracking. Zeolite as a catalyst tends to enhance octane number of gasoline by rearranging and isomerization of the gasoline compounds. The zeolite used is the synthetic zeolite (type y) has high thermal stability, good surface area and it is a heterogeneous catalyst which can be separated after treatment and may be reactivated. Commercial gasoline used for this research, when obtained from market has an octane number of 91 .7 determined by IROX-2000. When this comrffercial gasoline was treated by zeolite at boiling point temperature a remarkable enhancement in the octane number was noted (raised from 91.7 to 92.4). The study explain that the synthetic zeolite is feasible in enhancing the octane number of gasoline.en_US
