Abstract
Abstract
Cyanidation uses solutions of sodium or potassium cyanide as leaching
agents is usually used to extract gold metal from its ore.
The cyanide process for extracting gold was an improvement over the
inefficient mercury amalgamation process that was used previously,
which usually do not recover more than 60% of gold content in the
ore. Using cyanide for the recovery of gold was first developed in
Scotland in the late 19th Century.
There are two ways to leach gold using cyanide: Vat leaching and
Heap leaching. In 1998’s approximately 70% of gold had been
recovered using vat leaching, and only 30% using heap leaching. Now
cyanide leaching is used over 90% of the flee milling gold.
The Technique used in gold mining industry today includes heap or
valley leaching. Agitation leaching as Carbon in pulp (CIP) Carbon in
leach (CIL). In some cases, leaching is followed by carbon in columns
CIC alter solution filtration fiom the pulp. Cyanidation as such is the
best to suit, fine grain disseminated gold deposits.
Although cyanide is hazardous to the environment, it is widely used in
gold mining & extraction industry in the world. Gold mining industry
uses only 14% of the total amount of the produced cyanide. Cyanide is
safe and easy to use conditioned that proper management, according to
intemational cyanide code, which includes using of drip irrigation and
uses of optimum
Impermeable insulators such as (Polly Vinyl Chloride (PVC), Poly
