Abstract
The present study aimed to determine the effect of visual stress
"computer displaying LCD screens" on near exophoria. The study was
conducted done during August and September 2015 at Khartoum State,
bank employees. Demographic data was taken, outer eye was examined
by pen torch, vision tested by Snellen’s chart, retinoscope for measure
refractive state,cover test to measure the direction and degree of eye
movement, and exophoria measured by Maddox Wing at morning
before starting work and afier 3 continuous hours of w0rk.Data
analysis was done using SPSS (16) program Statistical Package for
Social Sciences.
Results:A total of 62 subjects of equal number of male and female
were including in this study, mean of age 28.70 =k 4.28years. All
subjects were symptom free and exophoric with mean of 3.58:l:3.74
before starting work, and 100% were symptomatic 29% feelingdry
eyes, 25.8% discomfort, 19.4% headache, 16.1% ocular pain, and 9.7%
fatigue and exophoric with amean of 4.54i3.53 afier continuous 3
hours of working. Paired sample t-test showed there is no significant
difference between exophoria before and afier work p=(0. 107).
Conclusion: Continuous computer work increase near deviation, which
result in headache and ocular symptoms.
