Abstract This study was conducted in Omdurman city. It took six months to assess the concentration of zinc and copper elements in serum of thyroid patients. These two elements affect the levels of thyroid hormones. Because zinc and copper are essential minerals of exceptional biologic and public health importance, so the aim of this study is to measure the concentration of zinc and copper in those patients. That is because zinc is the only metal which appears in all enzyme classes, and also copper is an essential trace element that is vital to the health of all living things. The biological role for copper commenced with the appearance of oxygen in earth's atmosphere. The majority of the patients in this study were women (89.7%), but the age of all patients in this study is varying from 18 to 78 years old. In the present study zinc concentration is correlate with triiodothyronine (T3) levels (P- value <0.001), but no correlation between zinc concentration and thyroxine (T4) levels. But there is no significant change in serum copper in patients with hypothyroidism as compared to that of normal subjects. In conclusion Clinicians should resquit patients to analyze zinc and copper concentrations tests when they recognized any change in thyroid function, which may help many people to avoid some thyroid problems.en_US
