dc.description.abstractABSTRACT The saw-dust of Mahogany, Margosa and Acacia Senegal were collected from a furniture factory in Omdurman industrial area. The cellulose were extracted by soaking and heating with sodium hydroxide then after dried, then treated with sulfuric acid and dried in oven at 60 Co and grained. T o obtain NCC. The XRD, FT-IR and UV-visible spectroscopy and analyses were done to characterize the synthesized NCC. The XRD analysis showed that the crystal structure was Rhombohedral, and particles sizes were found to be 62.1nm. The FTIR results showed that the strong O –H stretch bond for Mahogany, C –C stretch for Margosa and C–O stretch for Acacia Senegal indicate that the samples were cellulose, which agree with previous studies. From UV results, the absorption coefficient was 𝛼=1.005 ,𝛼=1.32 ,𝛼=2.01 , the extension coefficient were K=0.03, K=0.03, K=0.04 the energy band gap were Eg=4.74, Eg=4.48, Eg=4.55 for Mahogany, margosa and Acacia Senegal respectably. These results agree with other finding. .en_US
