GC-MS Analysis of Essential oil of Nigella sativa seeds and its antimicrobial Activity

Abstract

The oil extracts of the seeds have been shown to possess antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and Antimicrobial activities. In the present study, GC-MS analysis of black Seed volatile oil showed the presence of a tota of 28 compounds. 80% of these compounds were sesquiterpenesMajor compounds were p-cymene (34,97%) , thymoquinone(22,71 %) and .alpha.phellandrene (18.75%). Antimicrobial activity results revealed that the extracted volatile Black seeds oil possessed moderate effect on positive gram Bacteriaand a broad spectrum of antifungal activities.

المستخلص الحبه السوداء من التواب لالاصليه فيمنطقة البحرالاحمرالمتوسط والتي تنحدرمن عائلة (الحوذانيات) وقد استخدمت بذورالكمون الاسود في الطب التقليدي. وقد اثبت ان مستخلص زيت الحبه السوداء الطيار يمتلك فعاليه مضاده للاكسده مضاده للالتهاب ,وبه نشاطات مضاده للميكروبات.وقد تمت في هذه الدراسه متابعة النشاط المضاد لبعض انواع البكتيريا والفطريات في المختبر لاختبارالتجريب يضد (4) انواع من البكتيريا ( bacillus subtilis ,escherichiacoli,staphylococcusaureus and pseudomonas aerogenosa )ونوعين من الفطريات (Aspergillus Niger and Candida albicans) واثبتت الدراسه عند التحليل بجهازGC-MSوجود 28 مركب المركباتالاساسيه(22,71 % ) p-cymene 34,97% ,thymoquinone 22,71 % and .alpha.phellandrene 18.75%
