Khartoum basin ” Oil
Field is an onshore field located of the 14 30 N at north and of 15 53 S , at
south mainly between the Blue Nile and white Nile of the central of Sudan , which at began to
develop in the late Jurassic
-
Early Cretaceous .
The general purpose of we
ll log analysis is to convert the raw log data into estimated quantities
of oil, gas and water in a formation of the study area, In this study, the objectives of using
the gamma ray (GR), resistivity, neutron (PHIN) and density (PHID) log
s includes the
determination of lithology units, to identify reservoir.
Core porosity and permeability measurements are done , used flow zones index (FZI) and
reservoir quality index (RQI) method to define Hasan
-
1 and Gazira
-
1 reservoir well .
That has
similar hydraulic properties. The method uses a modified version of the Carman
-
Cozen equation
and the mean hydraulic radius concept.
(GR) log which measures natural radioactivity in formations , was used in the
identification of sand
/shale lithology in the study area, Estimating VSHALE from GR linear,
produces an overestimation of the VSH , corrections linear VSH=f(IGR), Larionov for tertiary
rocks or young rocks, Larionov for older rocks, or even Stieber and Clavier to determine
pay
zone. the zones of interest (Swagir formation) were defined in terms of zones with effect
porosity (low GR and high porosity).
Which estimates
from density
and neutron
logs.
Resistivity logs were evaluated to determine a cut
-
off value for
the determination of net pay. By
using average porosity values determined from
well log
neutron
-
density effective porosity
calculations for each facies, the true
resistivity values
needed in order to produce hydrocarbons
with water
saturation.
The Rt valu
es determined from Pickett
plot analysis
were selected as the
cut
-
off values to determine the net pay interval. The pay thickness of the
Swagir reservoir
ranges
from 25 feet
-
40 feet
Lithology
correlation of equivalent strata across the four wells
was done using the
gamma ray logy and resistivity logs to know their lateral and vertical extent.
The log analysis performed in this study shows that the reservoir Swagir and Abu
J
in sand
formation of Khartoum basin field contain
significant accumulations of hydrocarbon
.
