Abstract
The Study Abstract
The researcher's study aims at knowing the absenteeism volume at work
and its effect on the productivity in the UAE educational sector through
an analytical study and comparing the reasons of absenteeism , volume
and its impact on learning in the public and private sectors .
The study includes an introduction and 3 chapters. The introduction deals
with leaming problem, the study targets, its importance, fields, approach,
society, assumptions and the general prospect.
Chapter One : It is a review for the previous studies,which
dealt with the work absenteeism ,the reasons
and measurements . Some of these studies
discussed by the researcher are the family
factors that lead to absenteeism at work ,the
woman's absenteeism at work in the industrial
sector ( Egypt ) , the working woman's
absenteeism ( France) , Work Uniformity in the
governmental bodies " Oman " , and the
problem of work absenteeism .
Chapter Two : It deals with productivity , its concepts and the
_ influential aspects . It is discussing also the
human factor on productivity, ways and
measurement of productivity, ways and
measurement of productivity and the general
obstacles of educational productivity efficacy.
Moreover , the researcher discusses the
approaches of productivity improvement such as ,
the capital resources the strategical approach , the
human factor performance and the quality
approach in production .
Chapter Three: The researcher enriches his fields study by a
general definition about the United Arab Emirates
, location , area , population ,progress of
education and its stages , UAE educational
organizations , conferences and studies about the
UAE and the Arabian Gulf . This chapter
includes also modem statistics about education,
the budgets of the Ministry of Education ,the
procedures of field study , steps , stages and
analysis of information and data gathering .
Moreover the study highlights ways of data
display and classification , testing of the study
assumption , tables and summaries of the field
workers and their opinions in addition to
displaying the findings through the data and
information collected by him . The study findings
can be summarized as the following :-
The variety of work absenteeism and the difference in importance
degree according to the type of educational sectors " public or
private " , nationality , gender , social status , residence and work
location , the monthly salary , type of job and the total family
members .
The cost: The individual absenteeism for one day , the absenteeism
of the whole staff for one day and the total absenteeism during the
academic year 1997 / 1998 in the public and private sectors .
The impact of work absenteeism volume on learning .
It does not mean that any person who is faithful to attendance is
productive , or any absentee is not productive .
The variety of actions taken after absenteeism and the level of
satisfaction at work do have an affect on absenteeism average .
The field workers have suggested some recommendations that can
reduce the average of workers absenteeism and increase their
productivity .
The female absenteeism ratio is higher than the male . There are
somesuggestions to bring the_ ratio down . ‘
