Abstract
Background and Objectives
:
Plantar fasciitis is a common foot disorder in which patients have
pain and tenderness at the sole of the foot. A lot of strategies like rest, exercises, orthosis,
Passive stretching, myofascial release, therapeutic ultrasound, cryotherapy ,shock wave and
transcutaneous electrical stimulation have been widely used to alleviate plantar pain., Positional
release and kinesotape used to reduce pain and improve range of motion. The aim of this study
was to investigate the short term effects of positional release technique and kinesotaping in
treatment of patients with chronic plantar fasciitis
Material and methodology
:
A total of 60
participants with chronic plantar fasciitis were randomly allocated into four groups. Group A
(positional release group), Group B (Kinesotape group), Group C (combination between
positional release and kinesotape) and group D (control group), single session was done to all
patients. Visual analogue scale, ankle range of motion and foot function index that were assessed
pre, immediately after and 5 days post interventions
Results:
The current study found statistical
significant reduction in pain in all three experimental groups (p=0.000), and demonstrated
statistical significant improved functional performance (p=0.000), whereas ankle dorsiflexion
range of motion showed insignificant improvement in all groups. Group C results better
improvement in functional performance as compared to group A (PRT) and group B (KTT)
Conclusion
:
positional release technique, kinesotape and combination of both techniques were
effective in short term relieve of pain and improvement functional performance but have no
effects in improving ankle range of motion in subjects with chronic plantar
