dc.description.abstractContests are very important aspects of life that is portrayed throughout different written texts to reflect their importance in life and in character construction and revelation. This paper intends to shed light on the role that contests play in character's construction and development as the selected texts show because it hypothesizes that contests are very important in developing the character as well as building it. The paper is limited to The Holy Qur'an, and King Lear. The paper chooses character analyses as a means of discussion. Throughout the argument, the paper finally concludes that contest is a valuable instrument of character's construction and revelation as the hypothesis has initially supposed.en_US
