Influence of the Power of Diode laser (830nm) in the Hardness of Glass lonomer Cement (GIC) for Dental Filling

Abstract
The essential aim of this research was to study the effect of the output power of the diode laser (830 nm) on the hardness of glass ionomer cement (GIC) dental restorative material. Nine samples were prepared; eight of them were irradiated with wavelength 830 nm at different output powers (3, 7.5, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27 and 30) mW. The ninth sample was left without irradiation as a reference sample. The hardness of the all samples were measured by using the hardness tester (TH 160) at different time intervals, beginning after 25seconds, then after every half an hour till five hours. The hardness of the different samples in different interval times were compared with the hardness of control sample.
The results showed that irradiation of the GIC filling material with diode lasers 830 nm increase the rate of polymerization interaction, which increasing the hardness of the filling material. It was fond that the hardness increasing after irradiating the filling material in small power of the diode laser and no significant relation was observed between the output power and the hardness.

اﻟﻬدف اﻷﺳﺎﺳﻲ ﻣن ﻫذا اﻟبحث ﻫو دراﺳﺔ ﺗﺄﺛﯾر اﻟﻘـدرات اﻟمختلفـﺔ لليـزر اﻟﺛﻧـﺎﺋﻲ 830 نانومتر ﻋﻠـﻰ ﺻــــﻼدة ﻋﯾﻧــــﺎت ﻣــــن ﺣﺷــــوات اﻷﺳــــﻧﺎن GIC. ﺗــــم ﺗﺣﺿــــﯾر عدد 9 ﻋﯾﻧــــات. ﺣﯾث ﺗم ﺗﺷﻌﯾﻊ العينات الثمانية الأولى بليزر الثنائي ذواﻟطول اﻟﻣوﺟﻲ 830 ﻧﺎﻧوﻣﺗر لمدة 25ثانية بقدرات مختلفة (3 و7.5 و15 و8 و21 و24 و27 و30) مللي وات. وتركت العينة التاسعة بدون تشعيع كعينة مرجعية.
ﺗم ﻗياس اﻟﺻﻼدة باﺳﺗﺧدام ﺟﻬــﺎز اﺧﺗبــﺎر اﻟﺻــﻼدة ﻟﻠﻣــواد (TH160) في أزﻣﻧــﺔ ﻣﺧﺗﻠﻔــﺔ ابتداءً من ساعتين ثم كل نصف ساعة لمدة 5 ساعات. وﺗﻣت ﻣﻘﺎرﻧﺔ صلادة العينات المختلفة في أزمنة مختلفة ﻣﻊ ﺻﻼدة اﻟﻌﯾﻧﺔ ﻏﯾر اﻟﻣﺷﻌﻌﺔ.
أوﺿــﺣت اﻟﻧﺗــﺎﺋﺞ أن ﺗﺷـعيع ﻣــﺎدة ﺣﺷــوات (GIC) ﺑواﺳــطﺔ اﻟﻠﯾــزر830 ﻧــﺎﻧوﻣﺗر، يزيد ﻣــن ﻣﻌــدل ﺗﻔﺎﻋــﻞ اﻟﺑﻠﻣــرة ﻣﻣــﺎ أدى إﻟــﻰ زيــﺎدة ﻓــﻲ ﺻﻼدة ﻣﺎدة اﻟﺣﺷوات. كما وجد أن ﺻـﻼدة ﻣــﺎدة اﻟﺣﺷـوة بعد اﻟﺗﺷـﻌﻊ ﺑﻠﯾـزر اﻟﺛﻧـﺎﺋﻲ ذو اﻟطــول اﻟﻣــوﺟﻲ 830 نانومتر تزداد بالقدرة المنخفضة ولم يلاحظ أي علاقة ذات أهمية بين القدرة و الصلادة.
