Abstract
Abstract
Background: Preeclampsia is a multisystem disorder of pregnancy, it is a major cause of
maternal morbidity and mortality worldwide. Maternal mortality is extremely high in Sudan
with pre-eclampsia which accounts 4.2% of the obstetric complications in Sudan and mainly
in Kassala, Eastern Sudan and represents 18.1% of the direct causes of maternal deaths. The
aim of the present study was to investigate biochemical, immunological, hematological and
molecular detection tests to use in preeclampsia predictions.
Materials and methods: Case control hospital based study. The study was carried out in
Omdurman maternity hospital.200 pregnant women were enrolled in these study (100 with
preeclampsia and 100 normal pregnant), venous blood samples were collected from every
patients and controls. Uric acid, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, albumin, aspartate
aminotransferase enzyme (AST), alanine aminotransferase enzyme (ALT) were measured by
using Mindray BS 200. Copper, zinc, and iron were measured by using Perkins Elmer 700
AAS. Total white blood cells and platelets count were measured by using Sysmex KX 21. The
antisperms antibodies (ASA) were measured using ELISA (EUROIMMUNE, Germany) and
PCR was carried out using allele specific primers for the important SNP in the TGF-β
detection.
Results: Uric acid, magnesium, AST, ALT, iron and TWBCs were significantly increased in
preeclamptic women than the control group p = 0.033, p =0.043, p = 0.033, p =0.038, p =0.05
and p =0.042 respectively. On other hand calcium, phosphorus, copper, zinc, platelets and
antisperms antibodies (ASA) were significantly decreased in preeclamptic women than the
control group p =0.049, p = 0.04 p =0.039, p =0.031, p -= 0.032 and p = 0.04 respectively.
TGFβ (+869 T/C) polymorphism TC genotype is higher in patients than control.
Conclusion: The study concludes that’s the Uric acid, AST, ALT, TWBCs, PO4, Cu, Zn,
PLTs, is useful predictor biomarker for preeclampsia, and the others markers need more
research and study.
