Prevalence of Thyroid Dysfunction (Hyperthyroidism) among Type2 D.M Sudanese patients in Southern Darfur State (Nayla City)

| dc.description.abstract | Background: Diabetes mellitus type2 and thyroid disorders are the two most endocrine disorders encountered in clinical practice, and associations between both conditions have long been reported. Objectives: This study aimed to assess thyroid hormones in D.M type2 patients. Materials and methods: This was cross sectional study, which conducted in Yashfeen Diagnostic Center Nyala City from November 2016 to January 2017, 200 diabetes type2 patients, both sex ages ranged from ( 35 – 83) years, thyroid hormones (TSH,T3 and T4) were assessed using Full automated analyzer (TOSHO AIA 360 Japan) . Result: Out of the 200 D.M type2 patients, 24(12%) patients showed thyroid dysfunction (hyperthyroidism), 9% subclinical hyperthyroidism and 3% was clinical hyperthyroidism. In the group with thyroid dysfunction there was excess of female than male. Conclusions: A systematic approach to thyroid testing in diabetic type2 patients is favorable. | en_US |
