Assessment of serum Zinc level in diabetic cataract Patient in Khartoum state

Abstract

Abstract Cataract development in diabetic patient as result of free radical release due to small deficiency in the level of Zinc, because Zinc have important role in protect tissue from oxidative damage, and it require as catalytic ion for anti oxidant enzyme, therefore the present study carried out to assess Zn level among diabetic cataract patient, moreover to correlate between Zn level and study variables. In this case control study, which was conducted in Sima Eye hospital, in Bahry, 70 subjects were enrolled, and then classified into 35 diabetic cataract patients and 35 controls, the Zn level was measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometer. Analysis of frequency showed that (90%) more than 50 years old and (10%) are less than 50 years old (10%) , (44%) male and (56%)female, significant differences was observed between mean concentration of Zn in cases when compared to control group . Also mean Zn concentration of >50 years old revealed insignificant difference when compared <50 years old patients, and the insignificant difference between mean concentration of Zn in male and female. This study conclude that there are significant difference between level of Zn in cases and control group , more over no relation were noted between Zn concentration and other study variables( Age range, Gender).

لقد تبين ان تطور المياه البيضاء كنتيجه للذرات الحره لدى الاشخاص المصابين بالسكري ذو علاقه وثيقه بنقصان مستوى الزنك ، وذلك لاهميه الزنك في حمايه الانسجه من الاكسده، كما انه يعمل كعامل مساعد للانزيمات المضاده للاكسده. ولذلك تمت هذه الدراسه لتقييم مستوى الزنك لدى مرضى المياه البيضاء المصابين بالسكري، وبالاحرى المقارنه بين مستوى الزنك ومتغيرات الدراسه. في هذه الدراسه التي اجريت في مستشفى سيما للعيون ببحري تم تضمين عدد 70فرد ، تم تقسيمهم الى عدد 30 مريض مياه بيضاء مصاب بالسكري وعدد 30 من الاشخاص الاصحاء. تم قياس تركيز الزنك بواسطه جهاز الامتصاص الذري. بينت نتائج التحليل التكراري ان (%90) نسبه المرضى اللذين تتجاوز اعمارهم الخمسون عام و(%10) نسبه المرضى اللذين تقل اعمارهم عن الخمسون عام (%44)نسبه الذكور و(%56) نسبه الاناث. تبين انه يوجد فرق معنوي بين متوسط تركيز الزنك في المرضى عندما قورن مع مجموعه الاشخاص الاصحاء، كما تبين وجود فرق غير معنوي بين متوسط تركيز الزنك لدى المرضى اللذين تتجاوز اعمارهم الخمسون عام مقارنه بالمرضى الاقل من خمسون عام ، وفرق غير معنوي ايضا بين متوسط تركيز الزنك لدى الاناث مقارنه بالذكور. استخلصت الدراسه وجود فرق معنوي بين مستوى تركيز الزنك لدى المرضى والاصحاء ، علاوه على ذلك لم تلاحظ اي علاقه بين مستوى تركيز الزنك ومتغيرات الدراسه ( العمر ، الجنس).
