    Anatomical Variation of an Appendix in patients with acute Appendicitis at Bahri Teaching Hospital During Novemer 2016 To Feburary 2017

    ABSTRACT Acute appendicitis is one of the most common causes of acute Abdomen needing emergency surgery. Variation in the position of the appendix, along with the degree of inflammation makes the clinical presentation of appendicitis inconsistent and variable This was done in Sixity Sudanese patients above 18 years diagnosed as acute appendicitis and underwent open appendicectomy. This piece of work had been done within the period from 1st of November 2016 to 28th 0f feburary 2017. Data collection was done by questionnaire about patient age,nationality, gender and ask about the symptoms and signs since the beginning of the condition. Arecord of variation in position and length among different age group was performed. Acute appendicitis is more common in male than female. The most common position is the retro-caecal (46.7 %), followed by pelvic in (28.3 %). The length was found to be 61to 90 mm in 40% ,followed 91 to120 mm in 21.7%.
