Al-Neelain University Vision color vision contrast sensitivity with and without Rose k2 By: Rania Kamal Aldeen Mostafa Asied Dr.Nuha Mohamed Fath Alrhman Muhjoub Abstract The study was designed to be a comparative cross sectional study. lt was aimed to estimate the effect of rigid gas permeable contact lenses (Rosek2 Menicon ) on vision, color vision and contrast sensitivity in kertoconic patients. Material and method: . The history ofthe patients were taken to be sure that the patient have no history systemic and ocular diseases. the corneal curvature was measured by auto relkratometer (Nidek) to determine the degree of KC. the vision was tested by Snellen test type (E-test). Refraction was done subjectively using (stenopic slit). Rosekl lenses (menikon) was use to correct refractive sate of the eye. the color vision was evaluated with (lshihara) test and contrast sensitivity with (low contrast slip Thark). these measurements were taken with and without Rose k2 contact lenses. Results: The data were analyzed using SPSS program and the following results were obtained: A total number of 50 patients were found to fulfil the criteria of selection (3l males and I9 female) their ages were ranged from IO - 35 years \vith a mean of (22.72 years :l:5.79) Ninety four percent of the patients had moderate to sever keraticonous (52%. 42%) respectively. Their vision without rose-k 2 was ranged (1/60~6/9) with a mean of (0.096 i 0.097). 98% of them less than 6/l8. and with rose-k 2 contact lens was from (6/I2 to 6/6 ) 98% their vision was within the normal limits from (6/9 to 6/6) with a mean of 0.8590 zt 0.22l . Independent t-test showed significant differences between vision without rosek2 and with rosek2 P.Value=0.00 df=49 Sixty two percent ofthe patients showed abnormal color vision and contrast sensitivity without rosekl compared to l0O% of normal color vision and contrast sensitivity with rosekl. Conclusions: Contact lens should be used in treatment of KC to enhance visual performance. Key words: Vision, keratocon0us_ color vision. contrast sensitivity.
