Abstract:
The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of wearing sofi contact lenses on tear quality.
This study include 100 females (50 non- contact lenses wearers and 50 contact lenses wearers) , their age
range was (l5-30 ) years, all patients were free of ocular and systemic diseases , the duration of wearing
soft contact lenses was more than 3 months up to 3 years. The study was done in Khartoum state from
march to June 2013.
Seventy two percent of subjects who don’t wear contact lenses and 60% of those who wear contact lenses
were in the age group (20-25) years .
In 86% of the subjects who were wearing contact lenses the reason was correcting refractive error, 50% of
this group have a duration from l year to 2 years, and 44% of them were wearing the contact lenses l2
hours daily.
Break up time test revealed that the non-wearing group have a little longer time (16-17) seconds in break
up time than the wearer group (l 5)seconds.
