    The Effect of Glaucoma Therapy on Tear Volume

    Abstract The study was conducted in Khartoum State, Makkah Eye Complex (Alkalakla) in period from June to September 2015. The study was mainly aimed to evaluate the tear volume in glaucomatous patients concerning the impact of Antiglaucoma drugs. The study included 125 subject (90 were under treatment with anti-glaucoma eye drops; 30 patients for any group and 35 as controlled group). 63.3% of them were males and 36.7% were females; their ages was ranged between (35-80 year). General and ocular history was taken for each subject. Quantity of tear volume was measured using Schirmer test paper, visual acuity, vision and IOP were also measured. Glaucomatous patient who were using prostaglandin was showen the following results (52% were having abnormal tear volume, 37% with normal tear volume and 2% watery eye) . The mean was 10.9 and Std.Deviation was 6.99 . Subjects who were used Dutrav 66.66% minimal tear volume, 26.66% normal tear quantity and 6.66% showed watery eye. The mean was 10.23 and Std.Deviation was 8.80 . Subjects under treatment with combination drugs 63.15% of them revealed minimal tear volume of less than 10mm, 33.05% had normal tear volume, and 3.5% suffered of watery eye. The mean was 8.66 and Std.Deviation was 7.22 . Subjects not use any eye drops as control group ; 54.3 were female and 45.7 were male and the mean of tear volume was 11.94 and the Std.Deviation was 8.14 From the study When we were using t-test we not found significant relation between the tear volume of three glaucomatous groups and the control group P-values which was (0.461, 0.812, and 0.565) for prostaglandin, Duotrav and combination drugs respectively. By using the t-test between duration of using medication and tear volume was found not significant relation (0.000 – 0.000 – 0.003) for Prostaglandin , Duotrav and combination eye drops . When using correlation between age and the four type of group study we not found significant value between them as follow; prostaglandin R: 0.218 P.value: 0.256 Dutrav R: -0.167 P. value 0.377 Compination R: 0.004 P.value: 0.983 الملخص وقد أجريت هذه الدراسة في ولاية الخرطوم في مكة المكرمة العين مجمع (الكلاكلة) في الفترة من يونيو إلى سبتمبر 2015. وتهدف الدراسة أساسا لتقييم حجم المسيل للدموع في المرضى الذين يعانون زرقي بشأن تأثير المخدرات مضادات الزرق. وشملت الدراسة 125 الموضوع (90 يخضعون للعلاج مع قطرات العين المضادة للزرق، 30 مريضا لأية مجموعة و 35 كمجموعة رقابة). كانت 63.3٪ منهم ذكور و كانت 36.7٪ للإناث. وقد تراوحت أعمارهم بين (35-80 سنة). اتخذ التاريخ العام والعين لكل موضوع. وقد تم قياس كمية من حجم المسيل للدموع باستخدام شيرمر رقة الاختبار، وحدة البصر والرؤية وتم قياس IOP أيضا. أظهر المريض زرقي الذين كانوا يستخدمون البروستاغلاندين النتائج التالية (52٪ يتناولون حجم المسيل للدموع غير طبيعية، و 37٪ مع حجم المسيل للدموع العادي و 2٪ العين دامعة). وكان متوسط 10.9 مم ± 6.99. الاشخاص الذين استخدمت الديوتراف 66.66٪ حجم المسيل للدموع الحد الأدنى، 26.66٪ كمية المسيل للدموع طبيعية و6.66٪ أظهرت العين دامعة. كان على حجم المسيل للدموع متوسط 10.23 ± 8.80. كشفت الموضوعات قيد المعالجة مع مجموعة العقاقير 63.15٪ منهم حجم المسيل للدموع الحد الأدنى أقل من 10MM، كان 33.05٪ حجم المسيل للدموع العادي، و 3.5٪ يعانون من العين الدامعة. وكان متوسط 8.66 وكان الانحراف المعياري 7.22. المواضيع التي لا تستخدم أي قطرات العين كمجموعة تحكم. كانت 54.3٪ للإناث و 45.7٪ من الذكور، وكان متوسط حجم المسيل للدموع 11.94 وكان الانحراف العياري 8.14 T-اختبار لا تظهر أي علاقة ذات دلالة إحصائية بين حجم المسيل للدموع من ثلاث مجموعات زرقية والمجموعة الضابطة ف القيم التي كانت (0.461، 0.812، 0.565 و) للبروستاغلاندين، الديوتراف والجمع بين الأدوية على التوالي. باستخدام اختبار (ت) بين مدة استخدام الدواء وحجم المسيل للدموع وجدت لا علاقة ذات دلالة (0.000 - 0،000-0،003) للبروستاغلاندين، الديوتراف وقطرات مزيج العين. أظهر شخص ارتباط لا علاقة ذات دلالة إحصائية بين العمر وأربعة أنواع من دراسة مجموعة (البروستاجلاندين، ديوتراف والجمع بين قطرات العين بأثر رجعي) ((R: 0.218، P: 0.256)، (ص: -0.167، P: 0.377)، (ص: 0.004، P: 0.983)).
