    Characterization and optical properties of gypsum in Sudan

    Abstract: In this study samples have been taken from gypsum Sudan and studied by (XRF) to know what elements which component it. Were found that greater concentration in Ca and Sr. Also the same samples have been studied by (UV-VIS) in order to get optical properties, were found that absorption , absorption coefficient ,extinction coefficient , reflection coefficient and refractive index for gypsum grey (0.42a.u),(9.6cm-1),(3.20),(3.22),(2) at the wave lengths(251nm) ,(252nm),(254nm),(250nm),(253nm) and also the same previous optical properties has been studied for second sample of gypsum white and the results as follow(0.538a.u),( 1.26×106 cm-1),(0.0264),(4.28),(2.09) at the wave lengths (240nm),(240nm),(241nm),(262nm),(241nm) , and (FTIR) has been used to verify bonds between elements.
