Item Exploring the Concept of Power and Resistance in Sophocles' Antigone and Shakespeare's Macbeth (Psycho-analytic Investigation)(Al-Neelain University, 2022-02) AlBalla Ahmed Mohamed ALIAbstract This research aims at investigating Sophocles' play "Antigone" as a form of Greek tragedy by comparing it to the Shakespearean tragedy "Macbeth" in terms of power and resistance from a psychoanalytic investigation. Though Sophocles and Shakespeare lived in different literary periods, they produced tragic heroes with common psychological plights. In both plays Creom and Macbeth are afflicted with uncontrolled desires for power as well as Lady Macbeth and Antigone unconsciously resisted their society oppression. In order to analyze this research, the researcher uses the descriptive analytic approach and employs the theories of psychoanalysis of Freud. The researcher finds out that Creon and Macbeth always give priority to their id of their uncontrolled desires for power. In addition to that the researcher also finds that Antigone and Lady Macbeth are victims and tragic heroines as they are portrayed as unconventional ladies. At last the researcher finds that Sophocles and Shakespeare seem to warn us against this irrational desire for power and its catastrophic consequences. مستخلص البحث يهدف هذا البحث لدراسة مسرحيتي "انتغون" للسوفوكلس و"ماكبيث " لشكسبير من خلال تحليل مفهومي السلطة و المقاومة من وجهة نظر تحليل نفسي. بالرغم من ان الكاتبان قد عاشا في عصرين مختلفين الا انهم اشتركوا في خلق شخصيات تعاني من نفس المشاكل النفسية فقد يعاني البطلان كريون و ماكبيث من رغبة مفرطة للسلطة كما عانت السيدتين انتغون و السيدة ماكبيث من مقاومة قمع المجتمع الذكوري. لتحليل هاتين المسرحيتين استخدم الباحث طريقة التحليل الوصفي إضافة إلى استخدام نظريات التحليل النفسي لفرويد. وجد الباحث أن سبب سقوط كل من "كريون وماكبيث" يُعزى سببه إلى طموحاتهم وأطماعهم الغير عقلانية في حب السلطة. كما وجد الباحث أن السيدتين "آنتيغون وماكبيث" كانتا ضحيتين بسبب تسلط المجتمع الذكوري الذي قادهما إلى ارتكاب جريمة الإنتحار. توصل الباحث من خلال تحليل شخصية "كريون وماكبيث" أن الكاتبين يُريدان أن يحذرا من أن الطمع المُفرط في السُلطة قد يكون لديه عواقب كارثية كما حدث مع "كريون وماكبيث" عندما قاما بقتل الأبرياء.Item The Challenges of Using Deontic Modality of the Sudanese Undergraduate Learners at Al-Neelain University English Department (Case study Al-Neelain University English Department Faculty of Arts)(Al-Neelain University, 2020) Solafa Ahmed OsmanAbstract This study aims to explore the problems of using deontic modality encountered by students of El-Neelain University. The study adopted the descriptive and analytical method of research. The study sample consists of 60 students in the second year at Al-Neelain University, Department of English. The researcher designed a test of the student contact method. This test aims to measure students and their ability to deal with problems posed by the alien method. The test was administered to a total sample of 60 students. The results of the study revealed that students face problems in: 1) Understanding and using the contact method. 2) Students struggle a lot to use ability models 3) The student had difficulty identifying appropriate models. Based on the researcher's findings, the researchers recommend giving the deontic method more practice. مستخلص البحث تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى استكشاف مشكلات استخدام طريقة المعالجة المذهبية التي تصادف طلاب جامعة النيلين. اعتمدت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي للبحث. تتكون عينة الدراسة من 60 طالبًا في السنة الثانية بجامعة النيلين ، قسم اللغة الإنجليزية. صمم الباحث اختبارًا لطريقة مخالط الطلاب. يهدف هذا الاختبار إلى قياس الطلاب وقدراتهم في التعامل مع المشكلات التي تطرحها الطريقة الغريبة. تمت إدارة الاختبار على عينة إجمالية من 60 طالبًا. كشفت نتائج الدراسة أن الطلاب يواجهون مشكلات في: 1) فهم واستخدام طريقة المخالطة. 2) يكافح الطلاب كثيرًا لاستخدام نماذج القدرة 3) واجه الطالب صعوبة في تحديد النماذج المناسبة. بناءً على النتائج التي توصل إليها الباحث ، أوصى الباحثون بإعطاء طريقة ممارسة أكثر أخلاقية.
