Alter all lidueation is a slow proeess and in the long run, it will relleet in our students. lllItem FACTORS INFLUEN CING THE CHOICE OF STRUCTURES OF ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE(Alneelain University, 2003) TAHA MOI-IAMMED ZEIN A.. EL. WAI-IID A.. ALLAHThe goal of this thesis is to explore objectively the problems which Sudanese University students at Al-Neelain University encounter in choosing correct English structures; more precisely, problems in the choice of verbs, tense parallelism, verb-noun confusion, prepositions, nouns and pronouns. It is argued that the intralingual factors and mother-tongue (Sudanese Arabic) interference and the overgeneralization are the basic issues for the occurrence of errors. A test which was employed, was ofaready-made materials nature, to get primary data from answers to one essay of the examinations given to the fourth-year students in the English Department in the 2001/2002 academic year at Al-Neelain University, Khartoum, Sudan. The subjects of the study were 100 male and female students, chosen randomly from a total of 180 students. The findings of this thesis were very surprising although Ll interference is the main factor that caused errors, the number of intralinugal errors is relatively high. The study consists of five chapters. Chapter (1) is a representation of a general background, namely the statement of the problem, the hypothesis, the research questions, the significance of the study, the objectives of the study, the method of collecting data, and research outline. Chapter (2) gives the literature review and theory in the domain of the study. Chapter (3) manifests the methodology that was setup in the study. Chapter (4) comprises the data analysis and the results that were drawn from the discussions of the results, and chapter (5) provides the consequences and recommendations.Item sdanese women during the mahdiyya 1881-1898(Neelain University, 1992) nawar el shielh mahgoubItem conduct disorders among pupils primary schools in comoros (case of moroni)(Neelain University, 2007) Jeanine Samuel Ernest MlanaoThe aim of this research was to investigate conduct disorder among pupils of primary schools in Moroni, the capital of Comoros. School survey descriptive method was used and 384 pupils of Whom 242 males and 142 females were selected from public and private primary schools through systematic sampling technique. 'Age ranged from 5 to 17 years old with a mean of 9,34 years. The tools of data collection consisted of the Sutter — Eyberg Student Behaviour Inventory. The statistical testes used to analyze the collected data involve frequency and percentage, Pearson coefficient of correlation, mean, t-test for one sample and t-test for equal means. The results of this research revealed that that the prevalence of conduct disorder among pupils of primary schools in Moroni is low. The prevalence of stealing, lying and aggressive behaviours is low. There are significant differences in conduct disorder between male and females pupils. There are significant differences in conduct disorder between pupils“ whose parents are separated and pupils whose parents are not separated. There are no significant differences between pupils from public schools and pupils from private schools. There are no significant differences between pupils of preparatory classes and pupils of elementary classes. There is a negative, but not significant, correlation between conduct disorder and age. 'Item an analysis of the effect of mispronunciation on sudanese university students writing(Neelain University, 2004) fawzia elamin ibrahim abdel qaderABSTRACT (English Version ) The Analysis of the Effect of Mispronunciation on Sudanese University Students’ writing Performance The study aims at investigating and analyzing the effect of mispronunciation on the writing errors, which have been made by the fourth year students of English language Department - Faculty of Arts, at El Neelain University in the academic year (2000-2001). The study attempts to find out and analyze the difficculties encountered by the university students, learning English as a foreign language. The study also attempts to investigate to what extent, the subjects have acquired the writing skills ; in the area of orthography, lexis, syntax and punctuation. The thesis consists of four chapters: Chapter one which is an introduction includes the statement of the problem, the purpose of the study, the need for the study, the questions and the hypothesis raised by the researcher. Chapter two, sheds light on the literature review. lt is composed of three parts: Part one is an introduction about language and teaching. Part two is a review on learning theories. Part three represents previous studies on contrastive analysis and error analysis. V - Chapter three handls how the data are collected, analyzied and classified, calculated and tabulated. Each table is followed by a histograms. The chapter also, presents the findings obtained on the basis of the analysis mentioned above. The last and the fourth chapter is devoted to conclusions, recommendation, and implications for further studies.Item Habit Transfer from L1 Reading to L2 Reading: An Investigation of the lmpact of Faulty Reading habits in L1 Reading on L2 Reading with special reference to sophomores and subvocalization at Omdurman Islamic University and Ahfad University College for Women as shown in second year University students.(Neelain University, 2003) MOHAMED NASr ali nasrABSTRACT he aimof the present study is to explore the impact of reading habits on University students to offer certain remedies and suggestions to deal with the situation. Considering the fact that good readers read fast and that reading fast depends on word recognition skill, students standard reading competence abilities have been investigated, and word and phrase recognition abilities, were highlighted in both L1 and L2. The study was based on the selection of a random sample of (110) Second Year University students (males and females) at English Language Depts. In Ahfad University College for women and Omdurman Islamic University,. Tests were designed to measure subjects standard reading competence - (Speed and comprehension) rates in both L1 and L2. Brief questionnaires were distributed to students in order to investigate certain reading strategies and habits that are known to play a role in the performance of slow poor readers. Questionnaires were given randomly to teachers/lecturers (all levels) on L1and L2 similarly interview questions were given to reader experts in order to highlight the role of the teacher in reading and promote teaching skills to overcome the weak parts of the implemented programme. The study revealed that subjects use certain faulty reading habits which affect reading competence adversely. The researcher has also indicated further research areas that may be needed to complete the study.
