In the present study, the peeled off and the peel of siwak extracts were isolated by methanol from the roots of Salvadorapersicaand analyzed by gas chromatography mass spectrometer. A total of 37 and 25 compounds were identified in the peeled off and the peel of siwak extracts, respectively. The major components of peeled off siwak were 5-hydroxypipecolic acid (25.l5%), Benzyle nitrile (l6.54%) Methylepiperzine (6.75%) and n-hexadecanoic acid (5.95%) while the major volatile components from the peel of siwak were Benzyl Nitrile (53.78%), Benzyle amine (1l.3l%), Benzyle chloride (3.61%) and Benzyle isocyanate (0.57%). The GC—MS analysis revealed the presence and absence of some compounds in both the peeled off siwak and the peel of siwak. The peeled off siwak and the peel ofsiwak extracts were subjected for screening for antimicrobial activity against two gram positive bacteria namely Streptococcus mutans,Staphylococcus aureusand one fungal Candida albicans using 188 the disc diffusion method. The peeled off siwak and the peel of siwak exhibited inhibitory effects against most of the tested organisms with the zone of inhibition ranging from (10 to 20 mm) in length. The largest inhibition zone in case of bacteria was obtained for the Gram- positive against bacteria Staphylococcus aureus (10 mm) in the peeled ofi‘ siwakand fungi highest inhibition was observed against C. albicans(l2 mm) in the peel of siwa.k.
