Item Assessme t 'n of Vitamin B12 Levels among Sudanese Women under Oral Contraceptive(ALNEELAIN UNIVERSITY, 2021) Lamis Bakri Osman ElsayedAbstract Back ground: Emerging evidence suggested that using oral contraceptives lead to many complications to female body system and also affect vitamin B12 level, so this study aimed to assess vitamin B12 level on Sudanese women who are using oral contraceptives and compare the vitamin level with those who are not using oral contraceptive and to correlate between vitamin B12 level with the duration of oral contraceptives and women age. Materials and methods: This is a case control study involved 30 Sudanese women under oral contraceptives set as case group and other 30 Sudanese volunteers women who didn’t use contraceptives set as normal control group. Their blood samples were used for measurement of vitamin B12 levels via enzyme linked immune-sorbent assay (ELSA). Data obtained analyzed by SPSS version 22. Results: vitamin B12 levels were found statistical significantly lower among women under contraceptives compared with those women without under oral contraceptives (69.85j47 .07 vs 262.37i59+.6 pg P value 0.00) Conclusion: The present studies conclude that serum vit B12 levels were statistically significant decreased among Sudanese women under contraceptives compared with those women without under oral contraceptives.
