This study aimed to investigate the impact of the use of the computer as
a medium in the improvement of the plastic fluency of the students of the basic
design course in the college of fine and applied art , Khartoum
To realize this aim an experimental approach to research was applied to
measure the impact of the independent variable (usage of the computer as
a medium), on the dependent variable (development of the plastic fluency
(
according to the following procedures
:
The sample of the study (28 students) was divided in to two groups, the
experimental group (14 male and female students) is to study basic
design using the computer, and the controlled group (14 male and female
students) is to study using the traditional teaching methods
A pre test of the plastic fluency was carried out on the two groups
The experimental group studied a computer based course designed by
the researcher, aiming to improve the plastic fluency of the learners while
the controlled group studied the same course but through the traditional
methods
A post test of the plastic fluency was carried on the two groups to find out
if there are any differences between the results of the pre test and the
results of the test applied after the completion of the proposed course
The results of the study showed that
No significant statistical differences were evident at the (0.05) level
between the means of the experimental and the controlled groups in the
measure of estimating plastic fluency before applying the proposed study
programme
Significant statistical differences were evident at the (0.05) level between
the means of the controlled group in the measure of estimating plastic
fluency before and after applying the proposed study programme, for the
means of the post test
Significant statistical differences were evident at the (0.05) level between
the means of the learners of the experimental group in the measure
of estimating plastic fluency before and after applying the proposed study
programmed for the benefit of the post test
Significant statistical differences were evident at the (0.05) level between
the means of the experimental group and the controlled group in the
measure of estimating plastic fluency after completion of the proposed
study programmed for the benefit of the experimental group
On the strength of the results of this study, it is recommended that there is a
need to make use of the findings of researches that dealt with the impact of the
usage of modern technologies in teaching art and design, it is also
recommended
that the suggested and tested basic design course of this study to be considered
and applied for the students of the basic design course, in the college of fine
and
applied art
