Abstract

s study aimed at investigating two oral communicative techniques: -playing and dialogue and finding out how far they can develop English Foreign Language (EFL) learners’ speaking fluency. The study was conducted in two schools in the area of Sana'a; AL Fajr Al~ Se: Jadid Secondary School (Girls' Section) and Halimeh Al-Sa’dieh ondary Girls‘ School. The sample of the study consisted of thirty female learners, fifteen leamers in each school, who learn English as a fore mad and 4 Dat lea acti ign language (EFL) in the schools selected for the study. The study e use of three techniques for Data Gathering: Testing, Teaching, Observation. a for the study was obtained and tape-recorded from the target rners‘ utterances during their oral performance in the speaking vities inside the classroom as well as the researcher's lesson-plans. The researcher's method was a combination of experimental and des role out sed sec pre the criptive one. The pretest was given to the target leamers before using -playing and dialogue techniques, whereas the posttest was carried after using the target techniques. The posttest consists of two tionsz the oral section was given to the target learners and the written tion was given to the target group as well as the control group. The test results showed clear weakness in all the speaking aspects, while posttest results were positive. xiv
